I just purchased it new and received it last Friday.  It is the latest 2013 Haswell Retina 15" Macbook Pro.  There does not appear to be an EFI update applicable to the 15" Macbook Pro.

I cannot believe that people are still replying in this thread. I have lately started reading the replies again after someone or a few claimed it still freezes after the EFI update...

Guys, the laptop is FINE. I have NO issues after the update. Whether some people have freezing issues with chrome or not, they should stop starting rumours about how it is bad hardware. There is no such thing as bad hardware, most hardware issues can be fixed via software/firmware updates which is what had happened in this case.

    Enjoy your new laptops

You might say that, but I am up to date with all software but still getting one or two freezes/crashes per day.

New to the thread. Brand new 3 day old 13" Retina. No EFI update option, so perhaps it was already installed? Definitely getting keyboard freezes.

Joel, when do you get the keyboard freezes?  Did it happen when using Chrome?  Which programs were you using at the time?

No Chrome. Mainly bouncing between Airmail, Safari, Calendar, and Pages. First noticed it when I tried to use application switcher (command-tab) and nothing happened. After about 5-10 seconds, it starts working again.

So sorry to hear about this freezing!  Have you reported it to Apple?

I am in a total dilemma.  I have been really wanting to purchase a 13" rMBP and there will probably be good deals for Black Friday, but I don't know if I should buy it or not with all these freezing problems...how frustrating!  What am I going to do?

^^^ I third that feeling.  I wonder for how many people the EFI fix actually worked.  Would be nice to get some stats.

Another person still waiting.  At least my 2010 MBP 13 still works.

i have trackpad and keyboard lockup after "sleep", post-mavericks on my MBP (running 10.0 mavericks).. have to totally shut down and re-boot... soft restart won't change anything.. frustrating.. my first MBP (less than 6 weeks old), and considering taking it back and just getting a PC.. i have iPhone, iPads at home.. wife is educator and has older MacBook and loves it.. i believe Mavericks may be culprit.. thoughts, wisdom, please?.. thanks in advance.

Well, let me say this: The freezes are not frequent. They are annoying when they happen, but pass quickly. I am hopeful Apple will fully resolve this issue. It's only been a few days, but I am otherwise loving this laptop.

Right, "faddo", there's "no such thing as bad hardware" -- that's why I'm sitting here with an unresponsive 13" rMBP right next to me, which I can't type on because THE KEYBOARD DOESN'T WORK.

    Get a clue, please.

Hi again everyone. I had everybody's issue with the rMBP 13" late 2013. Returned it to Apple on day 14/14. Gave it a couple weeks and bought the 15" 2.3 512Gb SSD 16Gb RAM with NVidia Card. Have been playing with the toy for almost a week now with no trouble so far.

One curiosity. I performed a migration from XP for some files and the OS created a new user. As I did not want to fiddle with deleting one user and having scraps of whatever around the innards of the machine, I decided to delete everything and do a fresh install/recovery. NO EFI available for me! Any suggestions on why is this?.

Greta machine the 15". Worth every penny.

    Ty.

Same thing happened to me. Looks like the efi update is included in mavericks now when you reinstall the os
