I have a late 2013 Macbook 13", 16GB Ram, 2.6 GHZ i5, OS X 10.9 (13A2093), ordered instantly after the keynote. Had some freezes in the begining, no freezes after the official firmware update until today...

Any clue what caused the interruption?

Same here. I've had a lot more problems with my macbook pro retina than with any other machine I've ever had in the past, the vast majority of them not macs.

It's not Mavericks related, I've been having this problem intermittently on my MacBook Pro retina for months. I'd hoped that installing Mavericks would help, but it hasn't. Quite the opposite in fact, I'm being forced to go through a cycle of several reboots almost daily now, which is unacceptable. This is definitely not a professional platform, or even an adequate one, if it requires constant rebooting.

Just wanna let you know that I got a 13 inch retina 8gb ram 256 gb ssd on black friday.  (Great deal 1396 no tax or shipping from macmall)  Have had no problems whatsoever and its been perfect.  I think the EFI Update was already installed because when I tried to install it, it said this is not compatible.

For those people having a problem with new Macbook Pro 13" Retina 2013 Haswell, with Mavericks preinstalled (like myself) -  decided to reinstall OS X Mavericks - it seems that the crashing is gone when using Chrome - It has been 2 days, no crash whatsoever

So i suggest you guys try to reinstall it. No harm trying anyway

    -

Use the built-in recovery disk to reinstall OS X while keeping your files and user settings intact. Important: You must be connected to the Internet to reinstall OS X.

    1.     Choose Apple menu > Restart. Once your Mac restarts (and the gray screen appears), hold down the Command (⌘) and R keys.

    2.     If you’re not connected to the Internet, choose a network from the Wi-Fi menu (in the top-right corner of the screen).

    3.     Select Reinstall OS X, then click Continue.

    4.     Follow the onscreen instructions. In the pane where you select a disk, select your current OS X disk (in most cases, it’s the only one available).

Hello, I've purchased a Macbook today (specifically ME865) and, like many others with this version, soon discovered the input issue. In my case it was a little unusual. Firstly, trackpad never hanged. Secondly, not all keyboard became unresponsive - a group of about dozen keys on the right side still worked. Lastly, it happened on log in, it happened consistently and then, after I opened the lid once more, it became unavoidable. This was horribly depressing. I couldn't type my password, to unlock the Mac and do something about the whole situation. For some reason I could do it if in Safe Boot (all keys worked) - but the next prompt (Keychain I think) blocked my way once more. Then I used recovery (all keys OK), got in contact with Apple Support, chatted for some time... the best advice I got was to return my Macbook to vendor (to be fair, the first person I chatted with was geniunely trying to help, but I accidentally closed the chat). I didin't want to return it, so after some googling and several unsuccessful attempts to log in (all blocked by the damned keyboard) I started up in single-user mode, deleted setup file, created new user ID with password that contained working letters, logged in and reset the password on my original ID.

    Two noteworthy facts:

    - after deleting the setup file, the issue was apparently gone, I could freely type whatever on log in. It's been maybe 6 hours since the last keyboard hang-up.

    - first thing I did after unpacking was receive updates, obviously including EFI Update 1.3. Yet, all this happened. EFI update is listed as installed, but I had to reboot during update process, so maybe it is damaged somehow. I cannot force reinstall it, because OSX forbids changing EFI like this. I can only hope the issue ends here.

I am now on my third late 2013 15" Macbook Pro because of assorted trackpad and other problems.  My trackpad becomes nonfunctional and internittent.  Luckily, I was able to demonstrate the problem at the Apple Store and they are sending me yet another one.  Other than the malfunctions, I really like the machine, so I hope this one works.  If not, I am going back to a Windows laptop.

I cannot believe that people are still replying in this thread. I have lately started reading the replies again after someone or a few claimed it still freezes after the EFI update...

Guys, the laptop is FINE. I have NO issues after the update. Whether some people have freezing issues with chrome or not, they should stop starting rumours about how it is bad hardware. There is no such thing as bad hardware, most hardware issues can be fixed via software/firmware updates which is what had happened in this case.

    Enjoy your new laptops

Yeah I was thinking the exact same thing as you for the last 10 days, however now my 13" rMBP freezes up so you're are entirely wrong mate, the laptop is NOT FINE and I DO HAVE issues after the update.
