Hello....I was waiting to buy the MPR 13 Retina but haven't because of the trackpad freeze problem. You said "

I got my macbook pro 13'' retina i5/8/256 3 days ago. Fix to the issue reported in this topic has been pre installed. " My question is ...how did you know that ? Were you told by the seller where you bought it or ?????

    thanks

    Hi

I'm watching this thread since the start. I can conclude that most people who faced the issue had their first freeze in 3 days. My machine is absolutely stable - no freezes yet. Software update tells me that the efi update 1.3 for the 13'' (the 'fix') is not supported on my system. This actualy means it's installed or I haven't triggered the problem during use. IMHO all the 13-inch have the problem and this is software related. This will be fixed with further mavericks update. Better watch image retention.

I have a MacBook Pro 13" Retina since mid October.

I got the keyboard/trackpad freeeze four or five times in the first ten days of use.

I've installed the EFI 1.3 update the day it was released, and since then I haven't see the problem anymore.

I use the MBP at work, so the keyboard and trackpad are almost never "idle", except at lunch time or when I connect the notebook to an external drive to perform Time Machine backups during the night.

So, after the initial days of pain, the MBP is working perfectly.

If the EFI update is not supported by your system, then I doubt you have Mavericks build 13A2093 installed.  This update is for rMBP 11,1 "Late 2013" models only.  Perhaps your computer is an older one?

Nope this is the late 2013 model and the build is 13A2093 :-P

I have a Late 2013 13" Retina MBP, and the EFI 1.3 update says it's not supported by my system. However, I believe was pre-installed by the factory, because while it's not listed in "Installations", my Boot ROM Version is shown as MBP111.0138.B03. My Mavericks build is 13A3028.

The plot thickens!  Mine was purchased on 2nd November 2013 and atleast now has the same Boot ROM version as your's.  Maybe I should look to updating my OS from MAS and see what the current build number is?

I've not had the problems reported in this thread, neither on an older 2009 13" MBP nor on this new one.

I'm not sure whether or not I've had the same keyboard/trackpad issue described in this thread. I have had two lockups in the past ~10 days, but the system was completely unresponsive -- clock didn't change, browser tabs that were loading froze, etc.

If you try to reinstall the fix this is the error that you get, that it is not supported by your system, just because the sistem does not need it, this happened to me in my first macbook retina late 2013 after reinstall mavericks

for what it's worth (and because this thread is still going, holy moly) I returned my 13 inch Haswell macbook pro with retina that was having the issue and got a replacement. I was having other issues with the first one (directories not loading, long boot time, not being able to save files). I have not experienced any issues whatsoever with the replacement.

It probably doesn't show because the new firmware version came preinstalled on his/her machine, or Mavericks was reinstalled since.

Anyway, I just made a clean reinstall of Mavericks. I hope the problems are gone now but I doubt it. Seriously, mavericks is the most buggy OS I've used since Windows Vista.

Before reinstalling I had various problem.

    * This freeze issue was one.

    * Since a few days it also wouldn't reconnect to save wifi networks so I had to choose the network again after sleep.

    * Bootcamp wouldn't resize my har drive back into one partition saying that the two partitions wasn't created by bootamp (actually they where) and Disk utility would simply hang when I tried to do it manually.

    * Multitouch would stop working at times so i wasn't able to scroll or zoom. When that happened a left or right swipe in safari would hang the current tab.

And this is on a computer that's ony about a month old! So I had enough today and just wiped the drive clean and reinstalled. At least everything seems to work so far.

I installed the firmware update for killing off this freezeup issue on first-bootup of my late 2013 rMBP 13" on the 21st of November, then 13 days later I experienced 2 keyboard and trackpad freezeups within minutes of each other, since then I've not experienced any more, but with having those 2 occurrences means that in my mind the bug is not completely fixed although nowhere near as bad as it was prior to the firmware update based on the number of posts on this thread when Apple first released them at the end of October.

My main issue with my rMBP now is that sometimes when I put it to sleep for a long time it won't wake up and I have to do a hard-shutdown by holding the power button down for 10 seconds.
