The keyboard and the trackpad stops working including brigtness keys and volume control keys. i have use apple hardware test but no problem are found.

I got my Macbook Pro r2013 about 2 days ago and it's really a stunning machine!!

I already had a 2008 macbook unibody which did his job very well until 1 month ago(I have never had any issues), but this one is 100 times faster.

What I am wondering is, what kind of frezees did you noticed? Did the complete trackpad become unrensponsive?

Because till now what just happened to me (twice in 2 days) was that suddenly, while the trackpad was working good(2 and fingers), the 3 and 4 fingers gestures (un, down, right and left) weren't. So they just became unresponsive for about 10 senconds, and then they worked again.

Is this ever happen to someone?

I have also another question. How can I check if the EFI update is already installed?

Thanks, and let's hope for a coplete fix!

Again, I have had this MacBook Pro 13-inch, Haswell for over a month now. Am I seriously the only one who hasn't had this issue? Like I said, I'm constantly on my laptop either doing light gaming, photo editing or web browsing. I've NEVER come across this issue. I don't ever use any USB devices either. So, what's wrong here? Why are people here still complaining about this? The issue is GONE.

    Please respond, Adam T.

I'm approx. 10 hours per day on my laptop since I've bought it. It's been about 1,5 months or so. I've had issues with sound disappearing and finder but not a single hang. I'm the lucky one, too.

First off you're a disgrace to my fine name. 2nd if you actually read previous posts you would see that the USB controller is causing the chronic freezing. You stating that your current configuration does not call for any attached USB devices...I think you just answered your own question now didn't you.

NOT true for me, sorry. I use several usb devices including external usb hard drive, various 2.0 sticks, and apple wireless mouse and keyboard. No hanging at all.

    Uh... trolls these days.

I've been following this thread since October 26th. From what I've read, people who don't have any USB devices plugged in have the freeze/hang issue. The EFI update fixed it. I don't use USB devices, and I've never had the issue. That's what I meant.

It looks like everybody here is happy with their unit but you. You're just looking for an excuse to complain about something, aren't you?

You obviously are the trolll here. The hanging problem is rampant, and these macbook pro retinas have been very unstable for a lot of people... I know a few that are even considering moving their entire platform off of macs because of stability issues, but the macbook pro retinas have been the worst.

I've been a computer user for over 30 years, working in large IT shops as well as doing a lot of video editing lately, and by far the worst experience I've ever had with a flaky machine has been with this macbook pro retina, early 2013 model.

    rakeshfromlynnwood,

You said you have the MacBook Pro from Early 2013, you still have an Ivy Bridge MacBook Pro . This discussion is about the Haswell 13-inch MacBook Pros from Late 2013 models. So, even people with the Ivy Bridge MacBook Pros are experiencing this issue? I admit, this chronic issue is odd, but I've never once experienced it yet after having it for over a month. If Apple came out with an update specifically fixing the freeze/hang issue with the 13-inch Haswell MacBook Pros, than I believe, from what I've seen, It has been fixed. I'm not trolling, I'm just really confused here. I'm getting worried about mine.

    Syntactic,

When and how often does it happen? Which MacBook Pro do you have?

It happens every time I use my USB devices for extended periods of time. It could happen in five minutes, it could take four hours before it happens. Makes troubleshooting a nightmare. I have a new Haswell 13-inch rMBP I bought in December. I have already returned it and gotten a new one with the EFI update preinstalled. The replacement has the same issue.

Wow. Does it happen when you don't have USB devices plugged in? What applications are you running when it happens? I've read earlier in the discussion that Google Chrome users have experienced the issue. I've even read in this discussion that people with MacBook Pros as far back as 2010 have had these issues after installing Mavericks. It has to be software related if people with older MacBook Pros are having this.

Hi all. Have that same issue. Macbook pro retina 13 2013 (8gb/256ssd). OS X maveriks with all updates. Do not use usb devices.

System freeze on high load when active chrome with 30+ tabs, IM, developer IDE and 1-2 virtual machines. Look like ssd on high load create this trouble.

AdamVidalis, I honestly don't use the rMBP without USB devices. The whole reason I bought it was to use it with USB devices (specifically pro audio), which is why this is so frustrating. It's a paperweight if I can't rely on it for USB device usage.  When it happens, the only app running is either Traktor or Ableton Live, depending on what I was trying to do.

    Still here.
Still getting the emails from this thread, but only reading them once in a while. My MBPr runs perfect for 10 weeks now. No problems at all. All good. Never had a freeze or any other problem.

How can I help you, Sir?
