I think this is disgusting, I've got a brand-new MacBook Pro retina laptop (8gb, 256gb h/drive). And am 'shaving the same problems with the freezing trackpad and having to restart my computer. I think this is appalling for the price that we have paid for our new laptops. I hope you fix this soon Apple!!!!!!

I must say I find all the secrecy of Apple about this a bit annoying. It's clear by now that there is a problem and I would appreciate some information on the exact nature of the issue and what they are doing to solve it. To my opinion, after spending 1.500-2.500 euro or US$ on hardware we are entitled to some openness at the least.

    Same problem here: 8gb, 256gb ssd, 13,3":

Bought my first Mac and was very excited, and then? First day a freeze, second day a freeze. I am disapointed...

I had the issues only with the Trackpad, once in Safari (on the Apple homepage, by the way), and once in iTunes. Had to shutdown because nothing else gave a response.

    Please fix this Apple!

That's a completely unfair assessment -- this has nothing to do with secrecy. In fact, it's likely this issue wasn't on the Apple PR team's radar until this morning.

The bug has been showing up on machines for less than four business days. Diagnosing and fixing a bug can take a long time, and any smart organization won't throw out possible solutions and timelines for fixes until they're certain they can meet them. It's likely that Apple has already made this issue a top concern and that one or more engineers on the OS X team are dedicated to fixing the problem.

We all bought just-released machines running brand new hardware and a brand new operating system. Sometimes being an early adopter is a bumpy ride, and this is a prime example. If Apple hasn't addressed the issue in the next couple of weeks, I think we'll really have something to complain about. Until then, the only good solution is to either return the machine for a refund or exercise some patience.

    Hi guys.

    I have the same problem.
I bought my MacBook Pro Retina 13'' (i5, 4Gb Ram, 128Gb SSD) yesterday and have had the "freezing" almost 10 times (one just now has I was writing this).
I'm from Portugal and bought my rMBP in a local store.
I gotta say after waiting months for this model and spending 1400€ on it I was expecting something that didn't crash every half hour.
I just got Safari and iTunes running. Didn´t even install any apps apart from iLife and iWork.
I don't have the 14 days policy here, so I'm really stuck with it.
Apple better bring a REALLY quick fiz for this problem.
They just lost an iPad Air and iPhone 5S buyer, I just cancelled my order.

And on the phone they don't even recognise the problem or show any knowledge of its existence.

    Really great Assistance indeed...
(and it just froze again -.-)

I have the 15" 2.3/16GB/512GB and have experienced the quick freeze, then showing up the gray screen errors message and rebooting itself.

Same problem, has happened 4 times in as many days.  Haswell rMBP 13" 8GB/256GB.  Called support about an hour ago.  First they'd heard of it.

I've been using UNIX for over 26 years, but this is my first Mac.  One of the first things I did when I bought this laptop last Thursday was bring up a shell and run dmesg.  I see the trackpad wake messages spamming the logs.  Who knows if that's related, but how did this OS revision ever clear QA?

Don't want to muddy the waters, but I also notice very slow WiFi performance compared to all of my other devices that have been working fine on my Linksys WRT160N for 4 years.  Tried it on a number of known-good APs, and it is also considerably slower.

What a terrible user experience from a company that claims to focus on that.

    Worth noting - same problem

    Base model late-2013 13inch rMBP

Arrived Friday, worked great Friday and Saturday

Trackpad and keyboard froze once Sunday night

    Once more this morning

Submitted feedback, haven't had time to call AppleCare yet, but I'm sure I'll get a similar response to others

I think Haswell + Iris + Mavericks aren't getting along

Waited for this model to come out for six months...happy to wait a bit longer for the fix.

I also agree with BrushBrigand. I'm experiencing WiFi slower than on my iPad 4, iPhone 5 and MacBook Air 2012. On the same place, on the same network.
Not really happy to stick around god knows how long for an update for a brand new 1400€ machine.

What I hate is not the wait for un update(I am a developer, I know that fix things need time), but the silence from Apple.

Will be very nice if Apple do a comunicate like "Hey guys, we have received your feedbacks and we are working hard to fix this issue! "...but at the moment...only silence...so baaad!
