The keyboard and the trackpad stops working including brigtness keys and volume control keys. i have use apple hardware test but no problem are found.

So what's the deal with the 14 day return?  I bought mine from an Apple Store.  I just take it back in there with my receipt?  Should I put it aside and not use it in case I scratch it in the next 10 days while I wait to see if Apple fixes this?

Now that I hear other users are having the slow WiFi issue, I've grown increasingly ******.  A brand-new laptop that locks randomly and performs as if it's on an 802.11b network?  Guess I'll dust off my $400 HP DM1Z that has never locked, and works fine on all of the APs the rMBP crawls on.

For the record, my 13" rMBP has the freezing issue occasionally, but WiFi performance is signficantly faster on my 802.11ac network than any other machine I own. Until there are more than a few reports of such an issue, it's anecdotal evidence of a widespread issue at best.

If you want to return in the 14 day window, make sure you keep all of the components and documentation that came with it -- the box, cables, manuals, etc.

rMBP 2.4 8GB 256 here. I have the same log like the others but no freezes at all. This log though appears every ±10 secs....

    @Heimidal

    dito

WiFi is no issue here, working like a charm.

I'm really hoping Apple will let hear something in the near future, am thinking returning the rMBP for a refund... :-(

Just got my machine today. rmbp 13 2.4ghz 16gb ram and 256gb ssd. Everything just worked fine and fast. After ~3 hours of use the system trackpad & keyboard froze. System was kinda responsice (an installation completed during the stuck). System reacted to the closing lid .... After about 4-5 minutes everythinf started working again.

You say that you think that Apple has already made this issue a top concern, but why can't we hear that from them? I know keeping everything indoors has become somewhat of an Apple trademark, but I don't see why its reasonable to expect from us that we just take that for granted.

Perhaps you are right and they really didn't know much about it. However, if they didn't know about it I think it must be a hardware related issue that affects only a limited number of systems. Because if it is really a bug in OSX, it most likely affects all (13" Retina) systems and I find it very hard to believe that they didn't do any testing during the past few weeks.

I am experiencing the lock-up of the keyboard and trackpad too, has there been any word from Apple on this matter?

And like freezing and slow WiFi wasn't enought, me rMBP just started having one white horizontal line across the entire screen when I minimize and App (Safari, iTunes) and go back to Desktop.
Anyone else with this problem or I'm just extra lucky?

We definitely need to hear from Apple that they're working on it, but like I said, their PR department has probably just heard about this today and was already dealing with communication about the quarterly earnings call.

We're talking about a company that sells millions of products a week and Applecare has probably only heard reports that clearly describe the issue from a few hundred users scattered across the globe. Unifying those and understanding it as a singular issue is a big task -- one likely to take more than a business day or two.

I'm just trying to see it from their perspective.

I doubt this is a hardware issue. I think it is much more likely that the issue involves a new chipset and processor instructions alongside a brand new OS.

It doesn't surprise me that performance is good on an 802.11ac network, but have you tried bringing your rMBP to any place that has an 802.11g or 802.11n network and then comparing to other devices?  Of course you could always ask any hotel, airport or business you plan to frequent to update to 802.11ac prior to your arrival :-)

I perform wireless penetration tests and monitoring for my employer.  I have a bunch of WiFi cards and external antennas in my office for these engagements.  If the problem persists, and I keep the laptop, I will start a new thread and document my findings.  But for what it's worth, this laptop is terrible on my 802.11n network, and my all of my iPhones, and 3 Windows laptops have no issues.

Anyone look in Console.app for the kernel panic log? Perhaps they could post it to get to the bottom of this...

I called in to Apple this morning.  Did the usual resets and such.  Has anyone called back a second time to see if they bump you up to an upper level tech?
