Q: New Retina Macbook pro 13 Haswell system hang/unresponsive

I have a previous macbook pro retina (early 2013, 15", 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD), and it has also started freezing mouse/trackpad about once per day since I upgraded to Mavericks.

A few other folks on the last couple pages also reported their older computers (iMacs and retina macbook pro) experienced this after an upgrade to Mavericks.

That's good news, b/c it should mean they can fix it in software. Hopefully they figure it out soon. It's definitely frustrating.

Next time it happens, I'm going to try plugging in an external mouse/keyboard to see if I can recover control.

Same issue. My 13"/256GB/8GB macbook pro has freezed for 4 or 5 times. If there's no hotfix released this week from apple I will return it. Such so annoying.

Same here on my 2.4/8GB/256SSD 13" rMBP, as i was changing my display settings.

If everyone could just submit their feedback to Apple, the issue is more

likely to be solved soon. We need to get their attention, and because they are not reading these comments, please leave your feedback, they WILL read that!

I too had the freezing problem.  The trackpad and every button on the keyboard except the power button stopped responding, and the only way to get it back was restarting it.

Apple, fix this.  I paid way to much for this machine for it to do this.  A software glitch like this is inexcusable. How did this get through all the beta testing?

Late 2013 MBP 13" Retina/2.4/8GB/256GB

My new macbook with mavricks freezes also...only way to unfreeze is to maually shut down.  Seems pretty wide spread..My 2011 outlook crashing repeatedly had to rebuild data base.  works fine now.

I Have an iMac desktop with a trackpad and I have also experienced the trackpad locking up. First time I had to reboot .  Last time I turned Bluetooth off then on and that fixed it. Has happened at least three times since I loaded mavericks

Yesterday, I purchased a 2.4GHz/8GB/256GB 13" rMPB. I had keyboard/trackpad freeze happen to me once shortly after the initial set up. I was using Safari at time, and I think the machine was on battery power. I tried closing the lid and reopening, but it didn't work. I ended up power cycling the machine (fortunately, the power key continues to work). After the event, I have unchecked the "Put the hard disks to sleep where possible." setting for both battery and power adapter setting. It could be purely a coincidence, but it hasn't recurred yet. I have been using it on the power adapter since the original incident.

I added my entry to the form and sent feedback to Apple.

Same problem here :-(  I do not expect to spend almost £1500 on a machine that does this!!!  Anyone got a fix other than switching off and back on (which loses work?!)??

I have the same issue.  8GB/2.6ghz/512GB  - same issue here. I put the computer to sleep and then wake it then I can continue.  Apple needs to get on this and fix it fast.  I was surfing the web when it happened.
