    Hi all

An update from me, I called Apple Support they say they haven't heard of the issue yet.  I was given two options, the first was to re-install Mavericks, has anyone done this and still had the issue?  I'm just not sure it is worth doing but if people have done it and its fixed great I'll plod on.

The second option was to get a new laptop by swapping my current one.  I know that isn't going to help or is unlikely to.

I'm probably going to return mine and stick with my old Macbook Air and avoid installing mavericks on it.  Hopefully it is software but I don't want to get stuck with my laptop after the 14 days runs out

Just as a side note, I also have a mac mini which I upgraded to Mavericks and that has not shown this issue although I'm using a bluetooth mouse and keyboard so that might have something to do with it.

Hopefully a fix will be coming for you all soon

Yep, same problem here with my new 4gb 128 gb rMBP.

    Apple support suggested the following steps;

    1. Reset System Management Controller

    2. Reset PRAM

    3. Boot into Safe Mode

    4. Reinstall Mavericks (This will not erase anything)

Will try to avoid as from these discussions already these steps appear to not work. So will first wait out for an software update (hopefully) before even trying.

New to Macs comming from Windows, must be unlucky bought my first Macbook Air last year which died on me after a few months because of the now know SSD issues. Returned it back then and waited out for a Haswell Retina machine as I did'nt want to return back to Windows after experiencing a Mac/OS X for a short period. Thought I was just unlucky with a 'bad Apple' but now this happens!

I read two people saying reinstalling Mavericks solves it all. I asked before more people to try if it really solves for more people. I think you should try and please report us. Maybe the solution is easier than we think.

Same issue for me, rMBP Late 2013 13" 8GB 256SSD. Just to add some information:

It happened only one time, i was using safari and i loaded a site with flash content ( No plug in installed on Safari ).

After i closed the lid the Keyboard+Trackpad restarted to work ( 30 seconds ). Now it didn't happen anymore but i have the same error log on console.

"The USB device Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad (Port 5 of Hub at 0x14000000) may have caused a wake by issuing a remote wakeup"

Hope they release a software update asap, we understood that it is not an hardware issue

This is the procedure for resetting PRAM, which sadly has been confirmed to not be a lasting fix.

So, I just finished a very long phone call with Apple Care.

We did a few tests  (safe format, clean install, etc) and all of the 3 tech guys on the phone with me almost guarranted it was a hardware problem with some unlucky models.

I say some, because even though there are lost of us with the problem, there are a lot more people o bought the new rMBP

They're saying that Mavericks has been exaustingly tested, and if there had been a problem has obvious as this one, they would have caught it... (and that there are a lot of people who downloaded Mavericks and have no problem at all.)

Not really good news, but it's what I was told.

Reposting own comment, since it seems to work:

Changed my energy saving settings yesterday to kick in only after a longer period of time (1 hour). Since then: All seems good!

Please test this easy method on your machine and report back here.

So all the new rMBP are unlucky models because all people have issue and also people with older MBP, MB air and iMac... I don't think that these tech guys of customer service were good and if this is true tomorrow Apple can prepare a lot of money to give us back because it has no working laptop to replace these.

For me it is not hardware problem...

I have the late 2013 15in with a 2.3 i7, 8gb, and 256 SSD. I am going on my 2nd day and have yet to come across any problems. So far I am loving the laptop! This is my first Mac ever and so far I am glad I made the switch from PC to Mac!
