Just adding my voice the the list of people having this issue.

I have only been using my new retina 13" 8gb for a few hours and had the trackpad freeze on me.  I closed the lid and left it alone for a few minutes, and it seems to have recovered.

I'm also seeing the same USB errors in the console log.

It's true, I just checked this for myself and the errors stop coming after I plugged in any sort of usb connection.

Got my 13" Macbook Pro Retina 2.6GHz/8GB/512GB on first day of release after many months of patiently waiting for the latest revision... been wanting to treat myself to a Macbook Pro for some time now, and disappointed to say the least when it started freezing within hours of use!

Was about to pack it up and take it back for replacement the second time the freeze happened and I figured it wasn't just a one-off, when I found and read through this thread. I've just fill in the feedback form, so hopefully that helps.

If Apple don't release something or officially state there is a fix under development though, I'll be taking this machine back just before the 14 day period lapses and will just wait till a fix is definitely found and released then re-buy. I'm not laying out 1.5k for a machine that hangs like this potentially losing work!

Sad, as I otherwise think this machine is fantastic...

How do I check the error log?

Same problem here. I've got a Haswell rMBP 13" 8GB - 256GB configuration. Trackpad and keyboard hang sporadically. Closing the lid for a few minutes "fixes" the problem. For an $1800 machine, I don't know what to say ...

Click on cmd+space and then type "console"

To reiterate, plugging in a USB device stops the error message.

I plugged one in this morning at 11 am, and at 8:30 of nearly constant usage (maybe not used it for 90 minutes in that time) I have not had any issues. My console does not show any error messages.

The presence of a USB drive stops the error messages and apparently overrides the bug.

I talked to 4 Senior Advisors today. The last one told me that they suspect it is a software issue and are working for an update to fix it, but at this time, they do not suspect any hardware issues.

They are aware. I posted the conversations I had in previous posts for those that are interested.

Why is there no way to sticky a solution at the beginning so people stop posting even more speculation....?

My new 13" 8gb/256gb MBPr has been exhibiting the same problem as described in this thread every day since it arrived on my doorstop this past Friday.  This thread has helped me though - I plugged a usb thumb drive in after work today, and it's been flawless for hours now.  Obviously, I'd rather not have to have a thumb drive sticking out of the side of my new machine, but it's nice to have something to keep me going while I wait for apple to come up with a real fix.

I just got my 2013 Macbook Pro 13 Haswell and it has already froze up on me once. I am going to keep an eye on this and I am hoping Apple ackowledges the issue soon and posts a fix.

    Also experiencing this...

Received new MBP (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013) yesterday, running 13A2093, and it has frozen 3 times so far.

    Console reports:

"kernel[0]: The USB device Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad (Port 5 of Hub at 0x14000000) may have caused a wake by issuing a remote wakeup (2)" every couple minutes:

I can confirm that, after plugging in a USB flash drive, the console messages regarding the keyboard/trackpad have stopped. Not sure if this fixes the issue entirely, though.

I think you can if the original author of this topic (kyawlin) clicks "This helped me." It'll show up on the first topic under "Helpful answers"

I ejected the USB flash drive about 20 minutes ago, and my keyboard/trackpad just froze again. Upon restarting, I checked my console and I had a lot of they keyboard/trackpad errors again.

Perhaps we have to leave something plugged in all the time?
