I haven't even owned my 13" Retina Macbook Pro for a week yet and the keyboard/trackpad issue has happened to me twice.

Just arbitrarily browsing the web both times and it freezes.  I'm doing nothing out of the ordinary.

First time I did a hard power reset.  The second time I waited 15 minutes until my screen went into sleep mode... then it woke up and my mouse and keyboard worked again.  NOT an appropriate workaround, obviously.

I notice that everything on the computer is still working, I'm receiving email notifications, and my network monitor is still flashing, I just can input anything because the keyboard and trackpad aren't responding).

    Here are my specs:

13" Retina Macbook Pro (late 2013)

    8GB RAM

    512GB SSD

    $1799 USD vanilla version

    Running Mavericks 10.9 build 13A2093

I've already submitted a report to Apple Support, but hopefully they go over this discussion thread as well.

Maybe this issue is Bluetooth related? I turned off Bluetooth and started having this issue, than i turned it back on and haven't had the issue since. It may be a coincidence, though, please report. I hope Apple fixes this soon.

I'm in the same boat like you (Glenndisimo).

I didn't know there is any issue until I checked the Console.

I did not have any freezing issue.

After I ordered my Mac, I was just checking the new rMBP review, and I found this thread.

Then I checked the Console and saw the messages show up continuously 2/3/4 times a minute.

Other then this, everything else worked fine and I'm very happy with it.

But still worried for the messages why it's happening, and want to hear something from Apple.

I'm feeling bad for you guys who are facing the freezing issue.

Hope Apple will release something soon...finger crossed...

Same problem here, MBP 13" 8GB RAM 256GB SSD.

I've had it for two times in the last hour, Macbook is barely 4 hours in my posession.

    What's with the USB "fix"?

The USB fix is simply: plug in something to your USB port. A mouse will do fine, for example.
It seems, the errors in the syslog stop and also there are no more freezes.

Experienced the same thing with my new macbook pro retina 13 Haswell: 13"/2.4/8GB/256GB.

I exchanged my macbook for a new one but the new one behaves the same way. I noticed it was doing it frequently when I was using Chrome and less frequently with Firefox.

I will  have to return it again before my 2 weeks is up unless Apple fixes this problem.

I'm starting to fear hardware problem with the 13MBP. It doesn't seem to be affecting the 15 MBP as much or we aren't hearing from them.

    I also have this problem.

Bought my late 2013 Macbook Pro 13" retina 8GB ram and 256GB SSD just 6 days ago and it has frozen on me several times. First time happened just 2 days after purchase, but I did a PRAM and SCM reset that fixed it until the freezes came back two times today. I also had a problem when I was playing a game and the fan didn't start so the computer got crazy hot and then the screen went black. Left it there to cool off and then it just woke again at the same place in the game where it froze. Exited the game, did a Apple Diagnostics that showed no problems, and then turned off AA in the game settings and haven't had any problems with the fan since then.

Anyway, the freezes are really annoying since this is my first Macbook ever and I worked really hard this summer just so I could afford it, plus I waited and waited for the haswell upgrade.

I really hope it's a software problem because I am really happy with it when it works.
