second monitor display scale is incorrect should bee 1440x900 and doesn't give the option anymore

I have a second monitor, Acer AL191W, and the resolution scale for the monitor is 1440x900. before I upgraded to Maverick in the display options it gave me a list of scaled options and that was one of them. Now that I am on Mavericks it only gives me 1280x1024 - 1024x820 - 800x600. Which do not work correctly they are stretching the image. How do i add a custom scale option of 1440x900 for my display.

I do not want to use some third party appliction that I seem to be reading about. In mountion Lion I was given the 1440x900 resolution option by default for my extended monitor and now that I have upgraded the option has disappeared. So it did work correctly natively at one point. Please help.

Props to G Webbfor mentioning the ALT key trick in another thread. You must hold down the ALT key aka the Option key before you select the Scaled Option in the display settings. It will then display a broader list of screen resolutions in the field box and sure enough the 1440x900 resolution with there. Thanks again G Webb
