phone audible turning off when phone goes to sleep

I had a similar issue today. If I turned the screen off or my device went to sleep (ipad mini), my audible would shutoff too. I resolved the issue by closing all the open apps. For some reason two audible apps were running.

I have the same issue and closing the other apps did nothing for me. I'm on vacation and cannot re-download these items into itunes then play them from there. Please help!

I had the same problem. Closing all the apps, and the re-booting my iphone did the trick.
