No sound out after wake up in Mavericks

I have updated to Mavericks three days ago.

But I find that there is no sound output (headphone &speaker) after sleep, even though for 1 second's sleep.

Everytime I need to restart the computer to obtain the sound again.

Someone list the following suggested solution, but it actually does not work:

"

Close all windows and quit all applications.

Click "Go" menu in the Finder menubar.

Select Computer, then Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences

Open "Audio" folder.

Right click these two files and select "Move to Trash".

com.apple.audio.DevicesSettings.plist

com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist

Close the window. Restart the computer.

"

I really really hope someone can help me to solve this problems.

Many thanks!

Okay, after a good bit of testing on a total of 3 diff macbook Air now, 2 originally and 1 more I have access to, I can at least CONFIRM one thing for certain.

⚠If you have BOOM APP running, turn it OFF,

....while there is a slider on BOOM, the bottom most position of "off" isnt really off,... the APP IS STILL ON, .....you need to open boom settings and QUIT it.

I checked and rechecked at least 20 times (yes, really) that WITH BOOM ON, ....you will have total sound drop after you wake from sleep or even closing the monitor for a few seconds and reopening it.

Regardless of the BOOM APP,....as for sound drop on battery only and wake from sleep, Ive confirmed same on 3 diff. macbook Air 2013 models.

1. If you want to run the APP BOOM while on, and powered, thats fine, just DO NOT HAVE IT ON if your Air will be closed or going into sleep mode. BOOM turned off for sound boost is NOT the same thing as having BOOM APP completely shut down. You must QUIT the APP to removed sound drop from wake,...obviously the folks at BOOM have some work to do.

2. Uncheck "put hard disks to sleep" in your sys. preferences > energy settings.

3. Until there is a complete fix, DO NOT SLEEP your Mac with headphones attached.

😊

Boom was definitely the problem for me.

Yes, after some testing on those multiple macbook Air notebooks,.... it was an obvious slap to the face that anyone on Mavericks running the BOOM APP is going to have this fault.

Ive forwarded the serious fault in BOOM to their developers. It still works, but you dont dare SLEEP your Mac with it ON.

I had to lookup what BOOM is.

I'm definitely not running BOOM - this is happening on native.

Those sudo commands do not fix the problem - they just allow you to recover sound after the problem occurs without rebooting.

You didnt mention NVRAM reset:

Resetting NVRAM / PRAM

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
  3. Turn on the computer.
  4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
  5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
  6. Release the keys.

➕NVRAM affects speaker settings.

If stil the same, contact Apple about in shop service / diagnostic on your macbook Air.

sound drop in SLEEP is one thing.........a complete loss of sound regardless is another issue entirely .
