Can't scroll up and down in Safari

Ever since updating to Safari 6.1 (running on Lion) I've been having problems using the find function (command-f). After I use the find function, Safari either won't let me scroll up and down on the page, or it will let me scroll but the text becomes inverted, garbled and in other words impossible to read. The only solution is to quit Safari and re-open. Has anyone else had this issue and do you know of a fix??

😟

My friend I have the same problem. The command + F shortcut after the upgrade to safari 6.1 doesn't work under OS X Lion. Thanks God that the Find command from the menu bar is still working.

If that was happening in Safari 7.0 under OS X Maverick I would accepted. New versions of browsers and operating systems are full of bugs. This basic bug is unacceptable in an update of such an old browser and operating system. Updates should solve problems not create new ones.

OK. The new bookmark and the new top sites feature are good. But did they expect from me to upgrade to Maverick for having a decent browser. I really hope that the "great" Apple realize the problem soon and fix it.

The same thing is happening to me, but not when I use the command + F shortcut. It just happens randomly. Pages won't scroll, and if they do, parts of the page turn upside down and are all garbled. I've attached some screen shots. I was worried this was a virus or malaware, but it's good to hear that's it's Safari's problem. Have you two figured out any solutions yet?

Eueu suggests a very good point. This problem seemed to begin for me after installing the Google Translate extension for Safari. Now sometimes when I try and use find I get the symptoms discussed above, although I always use Command + F so im not sure if getting to the find bar through the top menu side steps this problem.

I olny added the translate extension to view the occasional electrical component data sheet in Chinese for class, so im gonna get rid of it and see if that helps.

I found a solution online. I was recommended to do a PRAM reset, and the problem has been solved for 2 days now. I'll let you know if it continues to work ok. Below is how to do a PRAM reset:

PRAM RESET

  • Shut down the computer.
  • Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step
  • Turn on the computer.
  • Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
  • Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
  • Release the keys
