Upgraded to Maverick - finder (and some other) windows are stuck to upper left corner

So I upgraded to Maverick. Firefox seems to be crashing, but that's not my biggest problem. Terminal and Finder windows are short (only a few lines long) and are pegged to the top left corner. They cannot be resized or moved - they snap back to their original place when I let go. Anybody have a solutions? Is there a way to downgrade?

I have been finding this happening also, I have a mac mini, late 2012 model. I happens even if I just turn my monitor off and back on. The only way around it I have found so far, is to minimize any widows I have open before turning the screen off, or computer to sleep. Hiding open programs works too, so far.

Same problem. Windows get stuck in the top left hand corner.

My computer is always on but the screen goes off after 10 minutes of inactivity Sometimes when I wake the screen up I find most windows stuck in the top left hand corner and the only way to solve the problem is to quit or force quit the applications which windows are stuck. Very, very annoying.

Apparently it was a common bug with the earlier betas according to this:

Hope a solution comes out soon.

I am having the same issue. I have called Apple support for the past week and I keep going through the hoops, created a new user test account, flashed the PRAM, re-installed the OS, etc. Nothing works, they will not admit that this is a problem impacting multiple users, you know, the usual. At this point it is difficult to use my Mac for work as I never know when my windows will vanish to the left side abyss. I do not recall the team demoing this new hide your windws and mess up the UI feature inthe product demos.

I was having this problem too. Complicating the matter, my dock was anchored to the left of my screen. To view the contents of my folder that was stuck at the top left corner, I reduced the size of my dock. As soon as I did that, surprise, surprise, my stuck window jumped forward, away from its locked corner position. Everything seems fine now, oddly enough.

I'd be curious to see if other people having this problem also have their doc situated at the left side of their screen.

I have the same problem, with a 2011 mac mini server with a clean mavericks install.

And the trigger seems to be turning off the monitor also in my case. Note that sometimes the windows, instead of being stuck in the top left part of the screen, are simply resized in an almost orizontal shape (i.e. they use almost all the lenght of the screen, but only one fifth of the height).

P.s. i will try the "dock trick" to solve the problem

Thank you all for the tip. My dock is on the bottom, so I just clicked to move it to the left and the windows magically unstuck, then I put the dock back on the bottom. It is a bit annoying to do this, but it beats the alternative of force closing application multiple times per day. Perhaps Apple can now get their head out of their arse and quit having their support people advise me to do perform "fixes" such as re-installing the entire OS. I have wasted literally several days on the phone with Apple's support team trying to get them to ackowledge that there is a bug that needs to be fixed.

I feel like Apple's pet, I pay them a load of cash for hardware, then they release buggy software and force me to perform tricks for their entertainment.
