fingerprint recognition - a failure so far

This is more of a "sharing" than a question.

The much-lauded "touch id" fingerprint recognition system is a failure in our household so far.

I've created and recreated my thumb and index finger prints numerous time.

I've created them with freshly washed, dried hands; hands after using and working in moisturizer; morning noon and nighttime hands.

Generally, the phone will recognize the first couple of times, then crap out.

Since the Fingerprint Unlock automatically triggers and immediate requirement for passcode/print upon locking the phone, this gets to be REALLY annoying.

I turn Fingerprint Unlock off again and go back to my usual passcode way of doing things.
