Q: Why is my Mail so slow to get to my Inbox?

I just got the Mac Mini- upgraded it to the Mav Os system- I have EXCHANGE Email- but I am trying to use the Mac Mail program. THere is about 5-10 minute delay in getting my email. It will say the time the email came in and it's delivered almor 5- 10 minutes later. I have my preferences set to check mail every minute. This lag is terrible. Any idea how to fix it?

Thank you in advance!

Mac mini, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

That kind of delay is often caused by the SMTP server and/or the POP/IMAP server at your email provider. About the only fix is to

    1. Complain to your email provider and hope your complaints will spur them to upgrade their hardware
    2. Be patient until your email providers fixes or upgrades their system
    3. Change to a different email provider

I think the Exchange EWS server delay is solved in macOS Sierra's Mac Mail! Actually, I think it's faster than my hardwired Windows 7 laptop running Outlook 2016, sitting right next to it!
