Factory Reset Macbook Pro (OSX 10.6.8)

I have been wanting to reset my mid 2009 Macbook Pro. I have misplaced the installation disks and I want to reset it to the factory settings without them. Is this even possible? If so what would be the steps that i need to take?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Of course. First, call Apple to get replacement DVDs > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 Then, follow these steps:

1. Insert the Mac OS X Install DVD and hold the C key while your Mac is starting.

2. Choose your language and go to Utilities menu (on the menu bar) > Disk Utility.

3. Choose the hard drive at the top of the sidebar, go to Erase tab and erase the drive.

4. Close Disk Utility and reinstall Mac OS X.

5. After reinstalling Mac OS X, use the Applications disc to install the iLife applications and open  > Software Update to install the latest version.

Make a backup of your data before erasing your hard drive or your will lose your files. If your Mac didn't come with Snow Leopard, you will go back to Leopard, so if you want to keep Snow Leopard, you have to get Mac OS X Snow Leopard in the Apple Online Store

Hello, I was having similar problems. I would like to restore my MacBook Pro to factory settings. I have Version OS X 10.6.8. as well. I have the installation disks. I began the process and followed your instruction. I put the disk in and held the C key during start up. However after doing this the screen stayed grey for 30 minutes. I figured it was just loading, so a waited longer and longer and still nothing. I'm not sure what to do. Upon further investigation I found the the installation disk I found is version 10.4.7. from 2006. This is probably the reason its not working. However I do have a 2008 installation disk 2. Please send some info if you can. In the meantime I will continue to troubleshoot. Thank you.
