Why is the default zoom 125%

Seems as if you have stumped everyone. The only spreadsheet that I have managed to permanently change to 100pct as the default is one I created and use regularly. My other spreadsheets are from templates, and although it shouldn't make a difference, even if I change the zoom and then save them, it still reverts to 125pct upon opening again.

Apparently I miss the ability to get "Open Recent" from the Template chooser as well.......

Same here since upgrading numbers last week to V3, now all old numbers files open at 125%, also "HelveticaNeue-Regular" font missing.

Created a new blank sheet, copy and paste data from old file to new file and save as new name is fine and opens 100% - cut very time consuming if alot of files...

This is one of many features that were eliminated or changed in Numbers 3.0.Leave feedback for the Numbers team using the link in the Numbers menu.

I think I have solved the zoom problem. Set the zoom level to your own preference. Then save. The at the top next to the title in the little drop down box, check lock. Close. Next time I open the zoom level is what I had chosen and the spreadsheet was still in the place I left off precoiusly.

That may work for an existing Numbers document but the OP's question was about the default zoom. Unfortunately, there is no setting to change that. New documents will open at 125% & have to be changed each time.

But even being able to lock the zoom on which those new docs will re-open is a wonderful discovery, assuming it's true. Can't test, as I've elected to remain on the cautious side for now.

That's what I was afraid of. I hadn't done a lot of testing but, for me, no document retained the view zoom I had set.

New From Template Chooser opens at 125% zoom, even for a custom template saved with 100% zoom. However, a document saved at 100% (and not locked) reopens at 100% and at the position when last saved. But is not the same for everyone!

View after saving at 100%, closing, reopening.

I ended up creating a brand new file and then pasting the tables from the old files into it. This "fixed" the zoom reverting until I opened the file in iOS. iOS did not repect the zoom setting, so it reverted to 125%.

On the OSX version, I can keep my preffered zoom so long as I do not open the file in iOS at all.
