How do I stop getting alerts from shared calendars?

My wife and I share our calendars with each other but we always get alerts when we create or modify a calendar entry and we always get alerts when an event is coming up. All we want is to be able to see each other's schedules, not be alerted by every event or change.

We have both toggled off the switch, allegedly turning off these alerts.

But we still get the alerts.

Any other options?
