Massive problem with audio interface

Hi there.

I recently bought a brandnew iMac 27" Haswell i7. I encountered problems with my Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 audio interface. These are buzzing, clicking and noise immediately or after 3 minutes or so. I tried everything, re-installed the driveres several times, nothing, really nothing worked.

Then I bought an RME Babyface audio interface - and guess what? It's the same problem. I also have a massive sound noise after some minutes or the recording channel in Garage Band drops completely.

What is wrong here? I already tried using a different power plug, tried all USB ports, turned off WiFi, HDD sleep mode, etc. Nothing worked.

Do you have an idea?

I appeciate your help,

Adrian.

Ok,

I got the same problems as described in this discussion.

Today I Called the Apple Care centre in Holand. They don't know anything of this problem. They told me to complain at the Audio Interface Manufactures. I tested USB and fire wire (TB) also with my TC Electronic Konnekt 8(FW/TB) and an Focusricte Scarlett 2i4(usb). All the problems as mentioned in this forum came around.

But the guy's from the store did not understand this problem. They were not very helpfull and even a little bit stupid. I told them about this threat, but they still... etc. etc.

I hope the next version of Mavericks will solve all this problems. it's ridiculous that they don't know and don't want to know about this problem. SHAME ON APPLE!!! (happy bithday by the way)

Thanks for all the kind of stuff on this pages. I will let you know when, and how, my problem will be solved.

Tjeerd.

I downloaded 10.9.2, worked but created other issues.

I decided to return.

Applecare gave me a hard time for not being a developer and upgrading to the beta OS.

I gave them a hard time for not having a machine that worked.

They sent me a return shipping for the machine. Back to my MBP late 2008. Waiting for this mess to be settled before I make a $3k purchase again.

Well did the update and it didn't fix my audio whatsover, oké my interface gives me sound but with the crackling and poping noises.

It even happens with my normal built-in audio.

So unbelevable that not one has had an answer for this.

I know now there going to to do nothing at this whatsoever. Had it with that mentallity

Done with mac, no professionality. Can't even type without my cursor jumping.

Total rip-off!!

Hi, I bought last week a 27" Imac 3,5gHz i7 with 3TB fusion drive also, and ran into many problems trying to install a ProTools HD Native system. I wasn't able to record more than 30 seconds before errors popup, even in empty sessions. Then I found this thread, and began testing the Imac in itself; well the computer was unable to play audio even internally (itune, garage band, safari / youtube) without glitches happening every 3 seconds!

Anyway, I juste returned it to the store and change it to a 27" 3.4 GHz i5 with 1TB SATA drive (the 2nd highest Imac available instore) and now everything is running perfectly.

I am running beta 2 (10.9.2) on my iMac with 3 TB Fusion Drive and have problem with clicks and pops. Before the beta I couldn't even use my Motu Track 16 so the beta versions is helping for sure, but it's not a solution.

Today I was recording with Logic Pro X and observed a few other issues (beside the click and pop errors) that can be interesting to now if you can reproduce as well.

First. When i played piano using Addictive Keys Grand Piano I had pops every time I pressed the sustain pedal. 100% reproducible in my setup.

Second. When I was playing guitar through my Track 16 and was using the Logic Remote app on my iPad 2 Logic crashed when I swapped to another guitar setup using the library browser in the remote app.

These two issues many dosen’t have anything to do with the FD problem, but I just want to mention it, and it would be interesting if you guys have the same problems in your configuration.

Cheers

Why are my posts getting deleted here. Wow nice move to **** me off more and totally slate apple and everything currently wrong with how they are handling this issue!

Again none of the betas improve things in fact all introduce new issues whereby the audio latency slips with the pops and clicks. 10.9.0 is best version but apple won't let you install it.

Anyone have an idea about how to go back on a new

Mbp 2013 haswell to 10.9.0 even if I get a gm2 of it I can't seem to install.

This is not a matter of breaking forum rules it's a matter of pathetic censorship of huge issues that are causing my business massive issues.

I merely mentioned how the betas performed with this particular issue. I don't see how that is a offence? I mean I'm looking to help others troubleshoot the issue.

We aren't apples usual ipad owners but creatives using our systems to make a living from our setups. This is not your usual cross section of people. We are tech savvy have access to any version we want and know how to work every bit of hardware we own. A solution is not something that should be moderated!

I bought a late 2013 27" iMac with a 3TB Fusion drive. I had the same trouble with my Phonic Helix Board 12 Firewire MKII as many people had reported. Clicks, dropouts, just using the device to play sound with the software like iTunes. My problems got completely resolved by splitting the Fusion drive as explained here http://www.macworld.com/article/2015664/how-to-split-up-a-fusion-drive.html and mentioned by some other posters. I have been listening many hours to the radio on iTunes and cannot hear single artifact. I use Cubase for composition, using mainly soft synths and I can report that this now seems to work flawlessly. Today I did a successful recording test, no clicks, no issues. Now I must admit that I found the drive splitting process a bit challenging. I had issues with using my time machine backup as a way to restore my computer after the split. It simply did not work. After wiping the hard drive, the iMac had to boot in Internet Recovery mode which turned out to be Mountain Lion. So this did not recognize my Time Machine backup. In the end, I used Carbon Copy Cloner which did the job perfectly.

I see many people trying Betas with various results, mostly negative. To me, it seems that drive splitting has proven to be a better solution so far though a bit more tricky then simply installing a patch. All this is still very infuriating and all the messing around with this spanking new machines is ridiculous. Years ago, I switched to Apple because I was fed getting phone calls from my wife telling me the PC was broken again. After I bought an Apple I never had a phone call again. It just worked all the time. It was amazing. That image has slowly been tarnished in the light of recent issues.

Hope this helps someone with navigating through the minefield that Apple has created for us. Good luck.
