Massive problem with audio interface

Hi there.

I recently bought a brandnew iMac 27" Haswell i7. I encountered problems with my Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 audio interface. These are buzzing, clicking and noise immediately or after 3 minutes or so. I tried everything, re-installed the driveres several times, nothing, really nothing worked.

Then I bought an RME Babyface audio interface - and guess what? It's the same problem. I also have a massive sound noise after some minutes or the recording channel in Garage Band drops completely.

What is wrong here? I already tried using a different power plug, tried all USB ports, turned off WiFi, HDD sleep mode, etc. Nothing worked.

Do you have an idea?

I appeciate your help,

Adrian.

10.9.1, 3.5ghz i7, 16GB with 1TB Fusion.

Having all the familiar issues with sound, both mBox 2 mini and alternate interface Zoom H4 will not record audio on Ableton or Logic Pro X without horrendous audio snarls.

Such a shame because this machine is a great for editing video, it's totally absurd that recording audio isn't possible. I've had to revert to using my MacBook Pro to record projects. I've got regular project commitments and I'm about to start a media production course so crippled audio recording isn't something I can live with.
I'm headed to the Apple Store tomorrow to see what they can do about a return/replace.

i havent checked in in a while with you guys .. some helpful tips that might work , always check for updated drivers for your interface . i havent had any problems since the first 10.9.2 beta . i of course have a fusion haswell . interface is tascam us-600 which has an updated mavericks driver. i am now running 10.9.2 13c59 not 13c53 anymore (just updated today) ill provide you guys with the link. if apple doesnt like it they can screw themselves . in the link there will be 2 download tabs at the bottom . on the 2nd download tab right click and "save link as" .. install and good luck . on a side note if anybody wants to pick up a tascam us-600 is a pretty good interface and im sure you can find one on ebay or amazon for cheap. might be less expensive than going through any other hastle. i confirm personally that its been working smooth with both logic pro x and studio one 2 both latest versions. also if you are running any version of logic pro x older than the most up to date version you need to update to 10.0.6 . there was a confirmed issue by myself and Apple that there were interface problems with older versions. so if you purchased it go on the app store and update . if you downloaded without purchase go back on thepiratebay or wherever you got it from and update to the latest. could very possibly be your problem and you think its the fusion.

heres the link .. download specifically as i instructed and bookmark this site as they always get the newest betas and other software usually within a full day or 2 of the release. good luck http://www.osx86world.com

Well I hope that's the case! I just received a new 27" iMac with 1TB Fusion Drive to replace a late 27" 2012 iMac with a similar 1TB Fusion Drive which I gave to my son to replace his aging iMac. Kids today don't know how lucky they are! Any way, I digress. The first iMac was upgraded to 10.9.1 and worked flawlessly with a FireWire duet attached via a Thuderbolt connector. New machine on the otherhand displays all of the audio issues mentioned in this thread. So obviously something in the hardware changes introduced in October has caused this problem and by the evidence provided by those who purchased SSD only and HDD only systems it would appear the new Fusion drive is the culprit.

Yes, I have the fusion drive.

I have to say, that, everything in audio works well now, BUT i'm having issues when open finder from the dock, it don't opens. But well, it's a beta, and I really prefer entering finder by clicking my HD on the desktop than use the iMac for facebook only 😁

So: 13C59 -> Audio problems solved for me, and finder problems

I have an update. I swapped out my latest model imac/fusion for a macbook pro.

Things are certainly running better - but I still do have constant audio distortion with a Fireface UCX running via USB. I tried running via a USB hub, via the thunderbolt monitor and directly into the MBP and I still get a consistant distortion on audio output.

Funny thing is the distortion is in Logic and iTunes, but not when I play audio from the web.

Hoping that 10.9.2 will help. I also have a friend who's using the Universal Audio Apollo Twin Duo via thunderbolt and says its working flawlessly with latest model MBP.

I imagine that there are USB issues as well as Fusion drive issues as mentioned in another thread on this site.
