Mavericks installed, now thunderbolt ethernet doesn't online after waking from sleep

DHCP with fix IP: MacBook Pro Retina won't wake up. This *****. Because I need a certain IP 😟

Static IP or DHCP with manual address... same issue.

here's my work around, setup multiple locations with same ethernet configuration.

when one location goes to sleep and connection craps out, i switch to another location, and let it re-initialize.

so sad that i paid over 3K for this MBP and it behaves this way.

what's funny is, if MS did this, ppl would be hating on them like crazy. If apple keeps polishing turds like this, along with ios 7, it might start losing fanboys...

My workaround is to turn off the Energy Saver; setting the Computer Sleep time to "Never". By doing that, the driver never stops working.

That's a workaround, but hopefully it gets patched soon.

Same problem with the Belkin Thunderbolt Express Dock connection using ethernet. Tried everything like this:

No help. Removed and installed the "Thunderbolt 1" adapter from the nexwork settings, changed the "Set Service Order..." as in the answer from Kriya Yogi here:

Nothing. Then I decided to use the "Assist me..." button from the Network panel:

(1) Select "Assitant..."

(2) Change the location name (e.g. Office) and press "Continue"

(3) Select "I connect to my local area network (LAN) and press "Continue"

(4) press "Continue"

(5) Enter your credentials

Now suddenly the interface is back but named as: "Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet Controller"

Rename if it helps you:

(1) select the "Gear drop-down-list button" located immediately to the right of the plus [+] and minus [–] buttons

(2) select "Rename Service..."

I just test with today official 10.9.1... the issue remains and is not fixed... DHCP with manual address does not wake after sleep :-( :-( - it is not christmas for the thunderbolt-ethernet adaptator :-(

Must we wait 10.9.2.

I noticed the same thing, but the dreaded wireless ping issues have taken my full attention. Doen't Apple do any testing at all before they ship out stuff anymore?

i am on the phone with apple support. I have Maverricks 9.1 installed.

I have tried all solutions mentioned in this thread. None helped.

Checks with Apple support:

- SMC reset

- PRAM reset

- create new user and check if the problem still exists (yes it does)

- boot to safe mode (problem still exits)

- delete SystemConfiguration an reboot (SystemConfiguration will be created again)

all of these did not help. In short they don't have a solution yet and will send my feeback to the developers. I think they were not aware of this issue before. I gave Apple support this Thread as reference.

lets hope this is solved soon.

Yes - this is what I was expecting from Apple - i.e. absolutely nothing. I seriously doubt that they didn't already know about this problem.

I am now happily back in the world of Mountain Lion - after going through the same diagnostics with Apple on the phone, they finally suggested a recovery install, at which point I decided to wipe the disk and revert to the last of the big cats.

If Apple spent less time thinking up cool names for their OS releases and more time checking that they weren't reinstating problems in the next version of the OS, that would be great!

FYI - the thunderbolt wake problem first surfaced in ML, and was fixed - and is now un-fixed in Mavericks.

Nothing I have read or tried has been anything like a fix for this problem - all workarounds and bodges.

So you need to ask yourself, how much benefit do you really get from memory compression, app-nap, tabbed finder (okay so I miss that), compared to how much you hate having to plug and unplug your ethernet every time your machine goes to sleep. ML seems just as nippy and battery efficient to me.

I have the same issue. After trying all kinds of resets, that were suggested by apple support. They suggested to make a complete reinstall of OSX. But according to this discussion, I'm sure this won't help also.

So Apple: Please provide an update for us!!!

I am having the same problem. Static IP addresses needed due to my office environment with mixed Macs and PC's. Wired ethernet with thunderbolt on MBP just purchased one month ago. MBP plugged in to power so not a battery issue. Every time it sleeps I have to do different things to get it to come back up. Tried the solutions of network settings noted in this discussion but that didn't help. Come on Apple, we expect better than this. Please fix the problem. Very frustrating.

Same here, brand new MBP 10.9.1, static IPv4, after the MBP wakes from sleep, system Information shows that the device is present and connected but the network connection does not work.

The only possibility is to disconnect the network cable and reconnect or a reboot.

Apple, it's time to something to happen!

Same problem as everyone else with the static address. Simple solution is to unplug and replug in every time. I've also tried turning the IPv6 to local link as suggested by the original fix, and hope that will resolve the problem. Here's hoping for a patch to fix things up. After having to specifically buy a 30$ adapter just so I could plug into the network, having it break with an OS upgrade make me feel a little displeased and I'm hoping it's fixed soon. Still not a major roadblock in my upgrade to Mavericks, but with all these little things not working I wish I had waited just a little longer to upgrade.

Same problem as everyone else but it is even worse. My Thunderbolt-Ethernet connection drops away on my brand new late 2013 MBP 13inch randomly even while using it. If I don't use the network it is for sure the connection drops away and all my file shares disconnect. Indeed one needs to quickly pull the 30 euro thunderbolt-ethernet connector and put it back, quite annoying. Maybe Apple can look into this.
