Mavericks installed, now thunderbolt ethernet doesn't online after waking from sleep

I'm having the same issue as well. MBPr 15 mid-2012.

Very annoying

hopefully enough people will have consistently reported recent issues to Apple http://www.apple.com/feedback/

pending on their next fix to be released soon.

Just now I test with 10.9.2 on iMac 27" and Belkin Thunderbolt Express Dock connection using ethernet... with manual IP and after sleep and awake, the network will work again well (imessage beep, internet browsing...)...

I had to be patient since first 10.9 but now it seems solved and welcome again manual IP instead dhcp...

Hope that the fixe is good also for simple Thunderbolt ethernet adaptator...

Problem (MPB late 2013, Static Ip, Apple Thunderbolt Lan Adapter) solved with update 10.9.2.

10.9.2 solved the problem for me too.

Just wanted to chime in here.

I've had this problem for the past year or so. I've tried everything. Some of it worked for a bit.

It seemed that every time I disconnected my MBP to use it for a presentation (using the thunderbolt to VGA adapter) and then reconnecting, I would have this problem.

Again it happened today. Spent all day trouble shooting. I have two thunderbolt displays daisychained.

So I finally disconnected the "main" monitor so see if the second one would wake up.

VIOLA. worked like a charm.

Plugged the first one back in - nothing.

Tried to daisy chain that one to the second one instead - nothing.

Solution?

The thunderbolt cable was screwed. I went back to BEST BUY where I purchased (thankfully had the 4 yr protection plan) and got it exchanged in no time.

Now I'm up and running without problems.

It comes down to the thunderbolt cable guys...I'm convinced because my first monitor was a "different" model number than the one I have now. I know because it took the guys a few minutes to do the exchange because the model numbers were not lining up.

Anyway, if you can, check your cable and get your monitor replaced if you're within a warranty or protection period.

This drove me nuts and just wanted to help you if you're going through this same thing.

The problem has gone away for me with the upgrade to 10.9.2.

After hearing that the issue was corrected in the 10.9.2 update, I switched the network connection type back to static IP for the Thunderbolt ethernet adapter and it is working again when waking from sleep (or closing lid and then opening after a minute).

Hooray! Now Apple just has to fix the Mini Display Port to external monitor issues that 10.9.2 broke, so annoying!

MB Pro 13, late 2013, problem persists with a static IP and 10.9.2.

I have just purchased a new 2014 MBP 13 and Thunderbolt screen. The MBP is powered from the screen and my LAN cable also goes to the screen. I have 10.9.2 installed and have given my MBP a static IP address in the router.

I see exactly the same problem as JLHM and sitamet, when the MBP wakes up. Often but not always when I open/use Safari I get a warning that the internet is not connected. My LAN is up for all my other devices on the wired and WiFi network. My MBP just does not see the internet over the thunderbolt cable. Others have also complained about loss of audio, so I guess there is a hang problem between the thunderbolt drivers.

I can re-establish the internet connection by unplugging the thunderbolt cable on the MBP and re-inserting it.

When is Apple going to take this problem seriously? It has been around for quite some time. The miniature thunderbolt cable plug has a limited mechanical lifetime. What is the manufacturer's garantee? 1000 matings?

Will Apple replace my MBP when the plug is worn out?

Does Apple read this discussion? I hope so and I hope for a company answer.

An update to yesterday, another way to wake up internet without unplugging the cable.

I plugged in a USB mouse to the Thunderbolt display. Then when the internet did not connect

I used the mouse and that was enough to again open up the ethgernet connection over thunderbolt.

I have the same issue with a mbp retina and a thunderbolt display. I remenber I had the network problem at the beginning but this one is gone. I did not understood what was happening, but now I do, wired Eth via the display, was disconnected and my wifi connection relayed.

Now I am having an thunderbolt disk connection problem and often get the "disk not ejected properly" message

I think it is a general problem with the monitor sleep mode which also cuts all the links to the machine Eth,USB and Thunderbold.Monitor sleep should only close the screen , not the other connections.

Worked for me!!
