iOS 7.0.3 update: # 1 on my settings icon won't go away

Question

iOS 7.0.3 update: # 1 on my settings icon won't go away

So I updated all of our apples to the ios7.0.3, and they all took the update fine. Except my iPhone 4S.. It updated fine, but now, on the settings icon, the little number1 that tells u, you have an update, etc, won't go away.. I've gone thru the entire phone, and can't find anything. Also I've tried the usual turn off/on, still to no avail.. It's not affecting my service, or perfermance, that I know of, but I'd like to know if anybody is having this problem, or am I just not finding the prob? I know pretty much all there is to know about the iphone, but I'm really stumped. HELP plz.

Okay, so you did a restart. Try a reset, hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot.

Ok, so I tried the sleep/wake and home bottom to reboot the phone. Didn't work. It did however make the screen flash, and by that I mean the screen was flashing really fast, and wouldn't stop.. Hope it was just a glitch..? Any other suggestions? I'm about to say screw it, because I'm due to upgrade soon.. I'm afraid if I don't continue to buy new products, the problems will continue as well..

I'm guessing here, but it has stopped flashing? That is just a reset, like rebooting a computer. The next steps for user troubleshooting are restore from a backup and if necessary a restore as new. Just remember that restore as new deletes all content from the phone, so make sure everything is synced and imported from the phone, calendar and contacts to a supported application on the computer, or iCloud or other cloud solution. Up to you how to proceed from here, good luck.

Hey Chris, no the flashing didn't stop. And the 1 is still on the settings icon. I'm prob gonna do a factory reset, simply because nothing seems to be working. Thanks for the insight, and I'll repost if the reset works as it should..

Well, if the screen did not go black, then show the Apple logo and you released the buttons and then it rebooted, then you have a lot more going on than the Settings icon. You will need a restore. You can try one from a backup first, but I'll bet you will need to set it up as new, as there appears to be a software issue. If the restore as new does not work, then it is hardware.

Yes, I have the exact same issue. Ever since I updated to 7.0.3 the settings icon has had a 1 notification circle and I can not see anything that needs to be updated. I have also tried a hard reset on the phone and it continues to be there. I'd rather not do a factory reset, so I am hoping whenever 7.0.4 comes out it auto-corrects the issue.

EDIT: This is on an 5S.
