change Apple ID password = iMessage log out on iPod touch?

Long story short, I desperately need my iMessages to NOT show up (temporarily).

If I change my Apple ID password on my PC, when I open iMessage on my iPod touch, will the messages still be there, or will the whole thing be cleared out because I have logged out? I know with Facebook and Twitter and other social media, if you change your password on one device, the other device completely clears out the information and force you to log in again, with the new password.

Please let me know. It may seem extremely trivial and pointless, but it's extremely, EXTREMELY important to me and what's happening to me right now. Thank you so much.
