Oct 26, 2013 8:13 AM in response to Carolyn Samitby geezerhiker,Thanks for your concern, but then when I click "Unread" the ones I am interested in deleting disappear from view. Are the "read" items supposed to just pile up forever?

Oct 29, 2013 8:38 AM in response to geezerhikerby dltj,★HelpfulI am having the same problem. I use the Safari reading list functionality to stack up a dozen or so tech articles a day to read. If I don't delete the read ones from the list, I've found the performance goes downhill at about 150-175 web pages on the reading list. As @geezerhiker noted, previously read links were greyed out which made deleting read articles somewhat straight forward. With the latest Safari update, it is impossible to distinguish read and unread articles on the "All" list.

Oct 29, 2013 8:59 AM in response to dltjby geezerhiker,So I guess the only ways to use the list are
a) to delete each item as it is read
b) to read all the items and then clear the whole list.
In the past I found that a) did not work well. If I deleted items while reading offline, those deletions were not sync'ed to my other computer.
Even b) has a slight problem - they took away the clear button. (After searching all the menus I found it by right clicking on a list item.)
I guess they feel they have simplified the Reading List - a good example of the maxim that software should be as simple as possible ... but not one bit more!
