Feb 7, 2014 1:16 PM in response to mjs0201by RequiredAliasOfDecentLength,The MacRumours accessibility fix did not work for me, but it did prompt me to poke through the other accessibility options. And I found a solution that has worked for me.
I found that under System Preferences -> Accessibility -> Mouse & Trackpad -> Trackpad Options, my "Scrolling" field was set to "without Inertia".
Switching that to "with Inertia" has fixed all my Preview scrolling woes. (I think that is the default setting for a new installation of OS X.) I don't particularly like the intertial scroll, but it clearly works much better than the "without inertia" scroll, which seems to fail in Preview right at the point in the algorithm when the inertial movement would normally be applied to the scrolling pane.

Mar 1, 2014 2:42 AM in response to ringalexby JamesBalmforth,This issue is not resolved for many people. Trackpad freezes regularly making it very irritating to read pdf documents, sometimes having to wait several second for it to wake up. How it is possible that Apple cannot fix this, when they are the ones that broke it in the first place I really don't know.

Mar 1, 2014 2:29 PM in response to JamesBalmforthby HillaryF,I just bought my MacBook Pro 2 days ago and the vert scroll jamming just started happening for me - these are some clues, not sure what they mean but.... Vert scroll jams only on Firefox, also I had just added some Add Ons (before in Firefox w/ no add ons scroll was fine) and only in Google docs, other sites in Firefox scrolling fine. When I opened my G-docs in Safari, I had no problem with the vert scroll - I also tried many of the fixes this thread has suggested.

Mar 1, 2014 3:23 PM in response to HillaryFby HillaryF,Update - I figured out part of the glitch, it will only vert scroll G-docs in Firefox if I hover the cursor over the scroll bar, it should scroll if you hover the cursor anwhere the doc. Ugh.

Mar 24, 2014 10:21 AM in response to JamesBalmforthby Mates@apple,100% agree with you. To be honest, I am quite disillusioned with Apple, more precisely with OS X. I have other machines running on W7 and Linux (Ubuntu) but by buying the Mac, I was hoping to get the best debugged and most-advanced OS/machine. However, lots of disappointments so far. I have never experienced so many troubles with ordinary apps such as Firefox, TrueCrypt and others when using them on daily basis. And even Apple's own apps like Preview... The apps behave differently from W7/Ubuntu when used on my Mac and the trackpad hard times I have experienced so far when using the Firefox browser, Preview and even PowerPoint simply drive me crazy!
