How do you change the pink highlight for the present day in calendar when in week view - OSX Maverick
I'm afraid that its hard coded into the app system of OS X.
Since Apple have chosen to indicate the Time of Day in RED day-view then the Daily highlight is Pink. It's always been like this since I can remember,
Thanks for the quick response, much appreciated.
The pink background that shows the current day is new to Mavericks. I know this because I have a calendar that is just about the same color. This pink calendar's events disappear when looking at the current date in the Week View. This was not the case in Mountain Lion. Today had a white background. Very frustrating.
I wonder if there is a way to change this using a Terminal command...
Roughly 10% of males are red color blind in various degrees. Choosing pink for highlighting a calendar day is a mistake, as light shades of red fade to gray for many of us. I can't tell "today" from any other - they all look gray. Also, I hate not having choice. I don't think Apple cares.
the current day was light blue in ical in 10.6 but with plenty of contrast, but I recently made the bigger leap all the way to calendar in 10.9. the choice of color is terrible for reasons such as Spile1962 puts below, but also not having any way to tweak it is terrible. I'm on a bran d new imac and can barely see a difference and frankly, while I appreciate the subtlety, I still forget to look for the darker bar across the top of the current week and day. we should be able to adjust weekend and current day bg colors.
I went into the app's package contents in hopes that they were using a tiff/png file that I could tweak on my own but couldn't find anything for them. all the icons are there, as are the bg sets for all the little pop-ups and things, but I couldn't even find a reference to a hex color in the plist file.
send apple feedback. I just did myself, except that Calendar hasn't made the list (yet?), only iCal up to version 4.x, and Messages is still only iChat for feedback, and some others are old as well. apparently after steve died, apple's attention to these details just died with him. it's been that long since those other apps should have been relevant on their site.
Hi Jeremy, Yes your correct before it was Blue Highlight for Day.
Has I said before it's hard coded into the app/os in other words it's a nib file.
Along with other who used to theme iTunes once Apple changed to building the main
items into nib files signled the end to themeing.
More experienced Developers/Coders coouldn't do it ether it's way complecated just to do.
I did come accross a link that helps to change the daily view but it doesn't work in Mavericks!
