Why can't iTunes latest version be installed?

My laptop is Windows 7 (Home Premium, 64-bit, 2.53GHz, RAM 4GB with 3.87GB free), and it wouldn't install nor update into the latest version of iTunes.

First, the software update would start downloading and at the end it fails. So I uninstalled iTunes as well as its compoments. After downloading iTunes setup from the Apple site, I tried to install it.

After confirming file location, I click "next" and the moment iTunes is to start installing Apple Application Support a box would pop up and say "the system cannot open the device or file specified." The same box shows four times for each software (Bonjour, AMDS, Software update and AAS).

I downloaded the setup 3 times and the same thing happens. My laptop space should be enough, so is my laptop too old?

Any more system details needed, let me know 😎 I need a solution soon!

Hi theGDone,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. If you are unable to install the newest version of iTunes, I would recommend following the steps in this article:

Trouble installing iTunes or QuickTime for Windows

Here is the version of iTunes you'd need:

iTunes 11.1.2 for Windows (64-bit)

Hi Not sure if you have solved this yet.

I tried to update to the latest version and it fails for a number of reasons, Can't find a dll/ no permission for particular registry location.

Tried all the recomended things, the one that finally worked was uninstall all apple products and Quicktime.

I am quite certain that the quicktime was the problem but I had un-installed all the apple stuff previously.

I then installed the latest version and although It then kept saying missing registry key it kept going and eventually finished installing and now working fine.

Why can't iTunes latest version be installed?
