Apps take too long to fully quit
Why does it take so long for apps like Safari and Entourage to quit after quitting them? Seems like it takes up to a minute to fully close?

Did you try to see if an app quit faster? If not ...
When processes slow down on your Mac, make sure there's enough free space on the startup disk.
Control click the MacintoshHD icon on your desktop or open the Finder, control click startup disk icon then click Get Info.
You'll see Available and Capacity. Make sure there's at least 15% available disk space.
