Oct 26, 2013 11:33 AM in response to jforknerby ecopenhaver,I am experiencing a similar issue since updating to Mavericks. I actually can't even get the radio to start playing. When I hit play, it thinks for a while, then decides it doesn't want to play anything. Very sad.... I miss my prog rock station...

Oct 26, 2013 11:43 AM in response to ecopenhaverby jforkner,Yep. The think, then not play is happening to me, too. Funny, too, is the My Stations selections seem to be the worst offenders; the Featured Stations, not so much.

Oct 26, 2013 12:13 PM in response to jforknerby Christopher_N,iTunes Radio constantly times out and it seems worse with the latest iTunes update. I only use my own stations which used to play non-stop without timing out most of the time. Now after 2, 3, 4 or sometimes 5 songs the connection will time out at the start of the next song like iTunes is struggling to sync or find the song. This happens frequently after the iTunes radio ads are served, but not every time. Skipping to the next song usually clears the problem, until you run out of skips. Changing to another station can also solve the problem until it happens again after a few more songs.
This really is a shame. Other than this issue I find iTunes Radio to be a very good start for Apple in the streaming radio field and it is the application I would rather be using. However, timing out after a couple of songs constantly makes iTunes Radio an unlistenable experience for me.
I guess it's back to Rdio or Spotify until this issue is resolved. I was going to buy iTunes Match to eliminate the ads, but not now.

Oct 26, 2013 12:15 PM in response to jforknerby mick2001,Having the same issue with frequency in 11.1.2 I generally hit the advance button moving on to the next song, which works.
I'm having other issues of more frequent crashes and non-ending beach ball hen selecting anything.
I should add, this is with iRadio, as I've not streamed other forms of music in this new version.

Oct 26, 2013 1:12 PM in response to jforknerby ecopenhaver,Hey, guys! I actually tried restarting my computer (duh..), and my issue was resolved. It might be worth a try for everyone else.

Oct 26, 2013 1:29 PM in response to jforknerby Christopher_N,As an experiment before switching to another streaming radio app, I'm seeing what iTunes current performance is for me right now. These are all my own stations, btw.
• Played one song, then ad, timed out going into the next song.
• Switched to a different station - timed out starting on first song.
• Switched to a third station - 5 songs, no problem, then an ad, timed out after switching from ad to the next song.
Looks like the main issue could be returning to music after serving the ad, but not every time.

Oct 26, 2013 1:46 PM in response to Christopher_Nby dong9330,Same here. Created some of my own radio stations similar to Pandora but after installing Maverick the music plays until I hear the first ad. After that it seems to stall out. Restarted iTunes, heard one song then an ad and it did it again. Just switched to an Internet station but would like to play the others without them stopping for no apparent reason.

Oct 26, 2013 2:39 PM in response to jforknerby mick2001,I have no ads. The music stops randomly between songs--could be one, three, five, ten.

Oct 26, 2013 2:56 PM in response to jforknerby Mulligan Golf,Have exactly the same "rebuffering" stall in iRadio. It happens for me on OS X 10.8.5 and Mavericks (10.9), both using iTunes 11.1.2.
Restarting the Mac seems to reset the problem which quickly recurs. Changing "stations" frequently resets the problem which quickly recurs. This is a pretty annoying iTunes bug. Internet access doesn't seem to be responsible. Haven't experienced stall on iPad or iPhone running iOS 7.

Oct 28, 2013 9:17 PM in response to jforknerby Jim Gottlieb,Same here. Usually hangs after an ad. Press Pause and Play or reselecting the same station doesn't help, but I can switch to another station (for a while, until that one hangs).
Another problem is that at a song switch, the audio will stop but the iTunes display still shows the next song playing, counting up. I need to briefly Pause, then Play to get the audio back.
Note that I am usually sending audio to one or more AirPlay devices.
