After upgrading to Mavericks, my MBA 2013 shuts down unexpectly twice. This happed before in the first week I bought it, but it never happened again.
What's wrong guys?? Should I contact apple to change one mac book??

Make a backup of your data with Time Machine and take your MacBook to an Apple Store or reseller. It's possible that the MacBook has got a hardware problem, so as your MacBook is in warranty, it will be repaired or replaced for free

I have the same issue with mavericks shutting down too but it only happens eachtime i connect my ipad mini to my mac book pro.
Thank you mende1. I still cannot spare the time to check with the resellers. But I think it is not completely shut down because one time when I use the chrome to play music. The screen suddenly blinked and turn to black screen but the music kept playing. I have to press the power key to shut it donw and restart before everything is back to normal. Do you think is about system setting?
I am having the same problem on a 2013 MacBook Air 13". After installing Mavericks, it will randomly shut off for no reason. Anyone know what is wrong?
I know all are looking for answers not another person having simiar problem but hoping that Apple notices this by number of posts, I'm having a similar problem with 2013 MBA 13" after upgrading to Mavericks. No specific application running etc. Suddenly reboots! It's quite frustrating as I'm having development going on and I've to restart some processes!
Same here on my Macbook Pro afeter upgrade. There are a few other threads with this issue in this page. Look for Random Reboots in Mavericks. It will be better if all of us are in the same thread. Im tired of my machine turning off out of the blue.
Turns out a simple SMC reset fixed it.
I also have this same problem. I've reset the SMC a number of times. Sometimes after a reset, I don't see the problem for weeks. Other times, like this morning, ithe problem occurs the next day.
Please, Apple, fix this.
MacBook mid-2009 working PERFECTLY before Mavericks, and now I have this problem. There is not any crash error in the system log, it just shuts down. Sometimes once per day, other times is ok during some days... but will happen again.
SMC reset didn't help out.
Hopefully the more people who report this problem, the more attention Apple will pay to it. MacBook Air 2012 working perfectly until I upgraded to Mavericks and now it shuts off randomly, sometimes 2-3 times per day. This is really frustrating APPLE, so we EXPECT a solution SOON!!
There is some sort of major issue because I have a brand new macbook air 11" and after upgrading to Mavericks, the system shuts down unexpectedly. It is totally random too, it does not matter what application is open. I've tried the SMC reset and it didn't do squat. This a joke, I just lost a ton of work. I am also having problems with my freaking iPhone 5S too unexpectedly restarting.
I have the same problem and it happens every day, I restart lots of work because of it.

+1 on this issue. My MacBook is a year old and never had a single issue until I upgraded to Mavericks a few days ago. Now I've had three random shut downs in as many days. Super frustrating.

My best friend has the same promblem - he bought Macbook Air this summer, everything worked like charm.
This week we've upgraded to OS X Mavericks. Now his Macbook shuts off unexpectedly.
Sometimes - twice a day; sometimes - zero times a day.
It has happened 5-6 times over past 4 days.
We've tried SMC reet without any result ((((
What shall we do!?
That is very annoying and I am afraid that it harms the computer!
Is anyone in Apple going to do anything with this!?
