Feb 2, 2015 3:12 AM in response to thomas_r.by GeorgeFN,Allelujah!
This has had me raging for the last few days since I downloaded something I shouldn't have. Chrome was plagued with Adware, and almost every time I clicked on ANYTHING on a page, another random page would pop up - usually MacKeeper (die!!!!), something similar or some gambling/dating website. Also, every time I went to search for something in the browser it would use some other search engine called Smart Search, which was really ******* me off as I have my default set to Google for a reason!
So anyway, I checked out that Adware Removal Guide, downloaded Adware Medic as instructed and it eradicated all of the above problems in seconds. I even felt compelled to donate a few dollars after that
Thanks

Feb 21, 2015 7:21 AM in response to Whit Patrickby silver7577,I had the same problem and contacted Apple support. There is a free software that operates on donations that takes care of the problem. Adwaremedic.com or the Safe Mac offers downloadable software that will clear it off your computer. It worked for me; then I returned to the website and happily donated.

Jun 5, 2015 8:12 PM in response to Whit Patrickby S_Lewis,So, I've been dealing with this issue too. I figured out the best way (that worked for me) was to download this tool: http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php. I was septic about installing something to remove something, but I was at the end of the roll to find an answer. So give me feedback if AdwareMedic worked for you too.

Jul 13, 2015 8:10 PM in response to Superwop68by kris_paul,Thanks for this - I am so impressed with Bitdefender I've just installed their antivirus program (paid subscription) which now hovers in the background looking for future pesky malware!

Aug 14, 2015 9:38 AM in response to Whit Patrickby stevenmac.in.france,I just had this in Firefox, was in fact an extension "SaveFrom.net" that I inadvertently installed... simply removed it and the malware disappeared also installed Malewarebytes to cleanup

Aug 20, 2015 11:32 AM in response to stevenmac.in.franceby JKeezy,Yep. I tried everything too and then just went through and turned off each extension one-by-one. It was SaveFrom.net that was doing it.
