songs from past acct

How can i get my songs to a new shuffle? Logged in to the same acct (idle for 2 years) but no songs are there

By logged in do you mean that you only logged into the account or that you checked to see what you can redownload on it via the Purchased link Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page ?

Whether you can redownload music depends upon what country that you are in, and whether the music is still in your country's store.

Also redownloading an account's past purchases may tie that computer to that account for 90 days : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627

yea, only logged in with the old username and password, didn't see a Purchased link, the player controls and main menus in the upper left corner were not set to display, from there I linked this computer, (up to 10 devices allowed)

and did find a link to Download purchased songs, from a FAQ that popped up after I posted the question,
