Nov 12, 2013 5:16 PM in response to Ralph Johns (UK)by Noble24,Hi,
Have the same issue from the imessage icon in the dock. I have to hold the mouse button down and then scroll through the options to either 'open new message' or click on a current conversation. From the launch pad icon it opens on one click.
It seemed to open with a single click the first few times and then stopped working.
Any suggestions? Thanks!
Mark

Nov 13, 2013 11:51 AM in response to Noble24by Ralph Johns (UK),Hi,
You have not said whether the app will launch from the Applications Folder ?
Drag the current iCon on the DOCK Off the DOCK and then let go (Animated puff of smoke)
Now Open the Applications Folder and Drag the icon for the App back to the DOCK to remake the icon and it's links.

May 8, 2014 11:51 AM in response to DebbieIby Ralph Johns (UK),Hi,
In the Applications Folder right click the Messages icon and then choose the Get Info option.
In the Info Panel that appears, in the top section which version does it say it is ?
Which version of OS X 10.9.x are you running ?
If the Messages app is version 8 does the Modified Date listed coincide with the date you installed the Last OS X update you did ?
(Messages is supposed to be updated when the OS is updated - in the past this included changing the version number but at OS X 10.9.2 the Update did change Messages - added the Block feature to iMessages but did not give it a new version number)

Dec 30, 2014 11:04 PM in response to Bellatakby McGregor01,Hi,
i had the same problem on my computer and this is how i solved it:
1. Right click on the imessage icon in the dock and hit quit (bottom option)
2. The icon will disappear from the dock but thats supposed to happen
3. In the top right hand corner of your laptop there should be a magnifying glass (symbolises search) click that and type in imessage
4. Once found drag it into the dock and this should solve your problem
Please tell me if this helped because it solved by issue

ApplicationsHi,
I am sure that is what I posted on the 13th November (back last year).
For some the Location and Search options may be helpful.

Mar 25, 2015 2:06 PM in response to sstarr158by Ralph Johns (UK),Hi,
Open the Font Book and check the AppleGothic Font is Active, not duplicated and Validates (File Menu).
In the list of fonts it is a long way down.
After that check Helvetica Neue and Lucida Grande.
The first deals with the iMessages Login.
The next is the Font used in the app to display the text. The last is the one that title the Group Bars in Buddy lists (even if you don't show then you need this)
If they check out go to Applications/Utilities and open the Disk Utility and then Repair Permissions.
This checks them against the database on the Mac which is updated when the apps and OS are updated.

ApplicationsHi,
You have found a thread in Mavericks (which still listed the app as ver 8 and no sub numbers during Mavericks update schedule).
You list having Yosemite though.
Are you getting any error message ?
