Mavericks Multiple Video Crashes

I had two seperate incidents today in which my iMac 27" late 2012 crashed after I upgraded to Mavericks. Both times I was running screen apps. Once was with Safari while playing a Netflicks video full screen. The second time was while I was playing Borderlands 2 full screen.

The video froze and the entire system became un responsive. Only thing I could do was a hard reboot.

Any ideas?

Am I alone?

Prior to Mavericks update. No crashes since I got my iMac in January of 2012.

Just wanted to add that my system crashed a third time. This time just using Safari, problem is now every time I reboot, the system will not start. Tried everything I could think of. Fully unplugged it for the night, will try again in the AM.

Once again, no issues with my system until Mavericks was installed. Very upset by this release.

Sorry, I posted the wrong model year. Should be 2011.

I'm finding that this could be a issue with the AMD chipset that was in all the 2011 models, MacBook Pros, iMac's etc.

I have this problem as well on my late 2009 iMac.. Reinstalling Mavericks right now, next step a clean install unless somebody has a better idea

I also have a iMac (2010 mid). Mountain lion was running fine without any crashes, i can't even remeber the last time it crashed on me. But now after installing mavericks i have had 5~6 system crashes since thursday, most frequently on boot right after entering the desk, also sometimes while on idle.

This must be a sofware issue, lets hope for a quick update.

I called Apple. Seeing them tonight. They say it most likely is hardware related, the 2011 models had defective AMD's and this is a known issue. I wouldn't rule out Mavericks causing the issue just yet though. Let you guys know what happens after they replace the AMD. It's free of charge too since it's a known issue.

I would recommend calling Apple to see if your models could be in the same boat.

Having same issue with my 2011 13 inch MacBook Pro. Highly doubt it's hardware since everyone here has different models and years.

Anyway after each crash I would run the disk utility and go through the motions but always have to do a reinstall to get the system back up. I'm wiping the entire hard drive this time and doing a fresh install to see if this corrects it. I'll post the results.

Fresh install didn't help. It was my after market ssd from OWC that crapped out. I put the orgianl HDD back in and restored the data and everything is back up and running fine.
