After upgrading to Mavericks I find that the Epson Scan software will no longer run so I cannot now use my Epson Perfection V500 Photo scanner. Is there a solution to this? If not can I delete Mavericks and go back to Mountain Lion?

Try Image Capture in your Applications folder.

Epson is working on new drivers / software for this scanner.
Until then, you can perform basic scanning from Image Capture.
Or go for 3rd party app. like vuescan.

Better than Imagecapture is it to activate the scanner in System preferences / Printers and scanners.
Here you find more possible functions of the scanner, but not as much as in Epson scan. At least it will do untill Epson has the new driver.

Here's a workaround for now:
Open Preview. In the File Menu, select Import From Scanner. Follow the instructions from there. There are fewer options, but at least you'll be able to scan.
Hopefully, Epson will act quickly and create a Mavericks driver soon.

I have a Epson V5000 Scanner, I upgraded to Mavericks, I found that my current version of EPSON Scan would not work on Mavericks... I also waited for the fix...
I followed the advise and used a basic function scan using Preview.
Whilst waiting for the fix, I reinstalled EPSON Scan Ver. 3.76 EN and...... it works fine?????!!!
I too reinstalled Epson Scan Ver N3.76EN and it works fine...for the first few scans. However, when I come back to see the results, only some of the frames have been scanned. At one stage I was getting loud chugging noise coming from the scanner. There is no such problems using Vuescan, but, for normal scanning of negatives, the Epson scans have more impact. A pity!
