Macbook Pro as desktop computer with NAS as main hard drive

Hi All:

I am buying a macbook pro and would like to use it as my desktop , as well as my laptop. The issue is that I have over 600 GB of content on my current mac desktop right now. I was planning on migrating all that content to an external hard drive for access on the Pro. I was thinking about setting up a NAS as a my main content storage and hard drive. My wish list would be to seamlessly have any content which I add to the Pro onto the NAS almost like the NAS is an HD inside the computer. At the same time I would like to be able to access all the photos and videos on the NAS from anywhere for things like editing on Aperture, etc.

So is this possible or do I need to think about a different design? I would really appreciate your expertise on this.
