iOS 7.0.3 Patch Fails to Resolve Waiting for Activation Error

  • iPhone 4
  • Model MC608LL/A
  • Carrier 15.5 .... (Lycamobile)
  • Version 7.0.3 (11B511)

I have been unable to activate iMessage or Facetime since updating to iOS 7.0.

I still get the "Waiting for Activation" error after applying the latest patch and have been unable to use iMessage or Facetime.

I figured it was a good time to start a new thread so that it could be documented the actions I have taken.

  1. I have turned off iMessage.
  2. I have turned off FaceTime.
  3. I have turned off WiFi.
  4. I have powered down the iPhone.
  5. I have powered up the iPhone.
  6. I have turned on iMessage and all I get still is the "Waiting for Activation..." message.
  7. I'd love to be able to be critical of Apple's product but I got this iPhone as a gift....

Your reply link is on how to restore an iPod. This is regarding an issue with an iPhone and as such I consider the response not very helpful. Without explicit instructions I do not consider the issue resolvable as of yet. I've seen too many "shooting in the dark" responses on the Communities forum to just start in trying anything without being able to document the break-fix process. (Hope you aren't offended! 😀)

Here's a further update to the issue which might help..

When I enable iMessage and Facetime it sends an SMS message to 44 753 741 0297

and 44 753 741 0227 and 44 753 741 0247and 44 753 741 0287

See ( https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3703172 )

Those are telephone numbers in Ireland !!!!.

I can only assume that as I have to enter an international dialing code when I text

overseas, the activation process is being inhibited!

WAY TO GO APPLE!!!! 😠

(I guess we can blame it on outsourcing!!!)

I would suggest first that if anyone has an Activation issue, they should first check their call history for their cell phone provider and see if you have any calls overseas. If your plan blocks overseas calling, iMessage and FaceTime will probably never activate!

First off I would like to say this will work with IOS 9 only. It will work with the following devices only.

1. Turn off iMessage in Messages make sure to sign out of your iCloud email.

2. Turn off Facetime in Facetime make sure to sign out of your iCloud email.

3. Reset network settings.

4. Go to messages and tap iMessage on.

5. Go to Facetime and tap Facetime on.

6. Your number will show up just like for my 2 iPhone 5's

7. Go settings tap Cellular and then tap Cellular Data Network
