book tab not showing up for all my devices

When I connect my iphone 5s to my Mac, there is a book tab in itunes. However when I connect my iPad the tab does not show up in iTunes. As a result, all my books will not load down to the iPad and all the stuff I have on the iPad will not load up to the iCloud or to iTunes. I have been through the settings on both iTunes and the iPad and cannot figure this out. Anyone have this issue and a solution?

I found an option in iTunes under File > Devices > Transfer purchases from iPad. I selected that and it brought all the PDFs and iBooks that I had acquired on the iPad into iTunes on my iMac. It also made the book tab appear on iTunes and now I have everything synced. This should have been automatic, so I am thinking this is some sort of bug. But at least I found a way to resolve the problem.
