Camera Roll constantly downloading photos after restoring from iCloud

I've just upgraded my girlfriend's iPhone4 to an iPhone5C, we backed up her phone via iCloud at an Apple store and did an iCloud restore to her new 5C, now some of the photos are in her camera roll but some of them are missing and is constantly showing "Downloading". Some of the photos are showing up in her apps like the Hipstaprint photos are showing up in her Hipstamatic apps but not camera roll. New photos are being stored in the Camera Roll properly, just some photos are there and many are missing from the restore.

I see that we are not the only ones having this issue and have trolled the internet for hours looking for a solution, which i haven't been able to find one.

I too, am having this same issue after restoring from icloud with my new iPhone 5s. would love to find a solution.

Luckily i still had my old iPhone so i did a full back up onto iTunes and then did a full restore not using the iCloud back up.

But that still doesn't solve the issue as it is just a work around to which not everyone is capable of doing if they trade in their old phone.

but it did stop the "downloading" issue, correct? I backed up my old phone to iTunes so can easily still do that. just want to confim that it worked. thanks

Yes that definitely did do it for me as long as you back up to your local hard drive and then restore from there.

I'm wondering though, are the missing photos on your phone photos saved by a different app other than Apple's camera software? I noticed that I was able to view the missing photos in my camera roll through my hipstamatic app since those were the ones taken by that app.

If that's the case than could it be possible that icloud couldn't back up the photos properly since icloud couldn't download them directly from the App's saved folder? Because when i went to the DCIM folder on the phone itself, those photos weren't there and did not see any other saved location.

Just a thought...

not so worried about the photos as they are all on my computer. just want that downloading alert to stop. thanks!

So I did a restore from iTunes and it worked and the "downloading" stopped and I got all of my photos back on my phone. So my advice to other is always back your phone up to iTunes in addition to the Cloud as the iTunes back up is much more trustworthy.

That's typically the rule of thumb for backing up any data, is to have redundancies for your backups.

In case you do not have an old back up, this method worked for me.

Go to iTunes > your ipad / ipod / iphone > Photos tab and check Sync Photos from then choose an empty foler (create one on your desktop) and then click Apply changes at the bottom. It would start syncing to an empty folder. This took it off for me!

Don't forget to backup to icloud or computer again!

After when I went to the Apple Store and they switched me phone and passed all my photos some of them didn't pass to my new phone and it's been about 5 months and they still say downloading ????
