Oct 29, 2013 9:04 AM in response to Mike Ennisby mfl23,I'm not sure if or when drivers will be available for this. Considering this scanner works perfectly well otherwise, I'm a little peaved.
I got the following response from Canon when I asked about drivers:
Thank you for contacting Canon product support in regards to your CanoScan LiDE 600F and your Mac.
Unfortunately, the LiDE 600F is not compatible with OS 10.9. The scanner can only be installed on Macs running OS 10.8 or earlier. I apologize for this inconvenience.
If you wanted to consider it, you are eligible for Canon's Loyalty Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.
To help you get up and running quickly, we also offer free UPS ground shipping (if the order is completed by 12:30PM ET). If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 seven days a week, 8am to Midnight. Let them know you have been working with email technical support and the Canon Loyalty Program was offered.
Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

Oct 29, 2013 1:11 PM in response to Mike Ennisby Fred Grieve,I've just discovered the same. For anyone else wondering how this manifests itself, I have no initial motor sound when the USB lead is connected and the printer isn't "seen" by any scanner friendly software.
Certain the scanner had packed up I attached it to a Windows machine where it was recognised and once the driver downloaded and installed, it worked OK so it has to be a driver issue.
I contacted Canon support before I read Mike's post and am awaiting my reply.

Nov 1, 2013 7:18 AM in response to Mike Ennisby Schacht,It's true, Canon won't provide a conpatible driver.
The "Canon Loyalty Program" does unfortunately not seem to be a worlwide agenda. The german Canon support told me plain and simple (I'm paraphrasing sparing us the marketing bs), that the Canon Lide 600F is too old. It is more profitable for Canon to sell new Units instead of spending money for product-support and - beside that, considering the life expectancy of that scanner, it wouldn't be worth it anyway.
Considering that compared to its predecessor, the newer Lide 700F does not provide the same quality at all, my personal "loyalty" will no longer stay with Canon.

Nov 1, 2013 12:22 PM in response to Schachtby Fred Grieve,I've now received a similar reply and like you, won't be buying another Canon scanner, the 600F being my third and final one.

Nov 4, 2013 6:14 AM in response to Mike Ennisby kindofblack,★HelpfulHi guys,
I'm in the same situation, MBP under 10.9 with an 600F.
Image transfer can't see/control the scan, but when I launch the CanoScan Toolbox app, (5.0.1.4), it wakes up the scan and I can control it through the app, but not preview (but I need to try more !)

Nov 4, 2013 6:42 AM in response to kindofblackby kindofblack,Vuescan can perfectly control the scan (preview and advanced settings included), but you need to pay $40 (or 30€) for it.
So it probably prooves that it won't be too complicated for Canon to deliver us a good driver for Mavericks... But they prefer selling us new stuff

Nov 5, 2013 9:54 AM in response to kindofblackby oneofthejohns,Thank you so much for this! I'm a professional illustrator and not having my scanner accessible has been killing me the last couple of weeks. Paying $40 for VueScan is totally worth considering the alternatives of having to downgrade back to Snow Leopard that I was using or buying a new scanner.

Nov 6, 2013 5:55 AM in response to kindofblackby Schacht,Thanks, kindofblack,
unfortunately Vuescan ist asking for the canon driver - wich doesn't exist. I don't really understand why. I thought that Vuescan supports the scanner on its own, but somehow that Lide 600F remains dead and calm.
In the meantime I continued my very entertaining correspondence with Canon Europe about that famous "Canon Loyalty Program" and received an answer, telling me that Canon is not obliged to support every new OS on the market. This lucid argument impressed me very much and brought me to a point where I discovered that I, as a costomer, am not obliged to support every new Canon scanner on the market neither.

Nov 6, 2013 6:30 PM in response to kindofblackby James Hood,I'm able to use my LIDE 600F only through CanoScan Toolbox on 10.9. For anyone interested in using their LIDE 600F this way, just install the driver and CanoScan Toolbox from the 10.8 downloads. I'd rather use Preview's interface for scanning over Canon's crappy Toolbox, but at least I don't have to buy a new scanner.

Nov 7, 2013 11:30 PM in response to Schachtby kindofblack,That's weird Schacht, because I only have the "old" 10.8 drivers still installed on my Mac, and VueScan found instantly the scan and deliver me some good scans.
An other alternative option found here in an other thread : the "scanning module" of Adobe Acrobat Pro perfectly work with the 600F under 10.9. You need to choose "Create PDF from scanner" and then you get a window allowing you to define your scan.
All this workaround options are giving me some optimism.

Nov 8, 2013 2:19 PM in response to Mike Ennisby APie,It's frustrating that something is often lost in OS X upgrades. Previously, it was the loss of Rosetta translator and tons of expensive Power PC applcations. Now perfectly good scanners are filling the landfills creating an environmental problem because Canon has not taken the time to update a measly driver. So its fair to say that Canon is creating trash whenever we must throw away scanners in perfect mechanical condition. A scanner should last 10 to 20 years if not a lifetime.
I'm going to try any workaround posted in ths forum. Plus, I am going to try to find my most recent Mac OS X CD - rememeber those? Maybe I can use it as a boot disk and use the old CanoScan LIDE 600F driver, that can still be downloaded if missing, and scan from the Lion or Mountain Lion boot. What a hassle! If I have to buy a new scanner for OS 10.9, I will try a different brand instead of Canon.

Nov 8, 2013 2:16 PM in response to Mike Ennisby bradgb56,I'm also running into the same problem with a Canon Pixma MX330. I haven't tried reinstalling the driver yet, but am wondering if anyone has had a problem with that model
