I cannot add photos/videos to IPhoto from my email.

I know this article states Mountain Lion as the OS, but I was able to follow these instructions in Mavericks as well.

I have Maverick too. I tried your solution, Judy, and it does not work. Help!! I am trying to clean up my email and don't want to have to use a complicated save and paste process.

I have the same problem since Maverick. The solution of dragging the photo into the iPhoto icon in the dock is not a very good solution--it is time consuming and the photo on top of the icon makes it hard to see if you have the right icon or not.

With Moutain Lion I could just click on a box and transfer it to iPhoto--is there any way of getting this again? Mail is Version 7.3 (1878.6), Maverick 10.9.4.

Friend, who is an ex PC'r and used to right clicks, told me to right click and a prompt will come up 'export to iPhoto'. I don't like it as well as the old system but at least it works! Cheers and hope this may help some others.

I don’t have any problem dragging photos from Mail to iPhoto (no movies to try).

Same OS and Mail versions.

Does yours not work, or are you looking for some other method?

Hi Barney--I explained the problem I had dragging the photo on top of the dock icon above. I personally like the right click solution better and will have to live with that even though I don't like it as much as the old system. Not a major problem however, thanks for stopping by. Cheers.

Ok, so your post really had very little to do with the subject of this one, the inability to drag and drop?

What am I not seeing here? The title of this thread appears to be" I Cannot add Photos/Videos to iPhoto from my email". That was my problem also so not sure what you are getting at. In any event I am finished with this thread. Adios.

Open it in Preview. You will get the option to add the photo to iPhoto.
