Please help! Garage band synchronise audio error.

Hey guys, just started recording in Garage Band - the new version.

I'm having a problem, that's driving me mad! I've been searching on google for hours to fix it, it'd be so grateful for some help.

I'm recording with my guitar into the Apogee One. I have tried a focusrite itrack solo and get the same problem.

I have a 2011 mba i5 with 4gb ram.

When I've got several tracks open (it starts at around 6 or 7 tracks) when playing back, the music starts to get scrambled and I get this message

'Error while trying to synchronize Audio and MIDI'

'Sample Rate 42820 recognized. Check conflict between GarageBand and external device'

This sample rate number can vary in the message.

I have checked the Apogee is set to 41khz. Garageband has 24bit audio clicked.

I've tried restarting, reparing disk permissions and resetting pram! I've tried switching between different outputs and the same thing happens.

I don't have anything MIDI running I don't think but still get this message? Just my guitar into the apogee one and the drum track from garage band. People have said they've selected this in Logic to fix similar problems

'Go to Preferences –> Midi (tab) –> Sync (sub-tab) –> Midi Sync Project Settings(bottom right corner button) –> Synchronization (tab) –> General (sub-tab) and over there enable "AUTO ENABLE EXTERNAL SYNC'

But those options aren't available in garage band!

Any ideas? I'd really appreciate your help I'm going mad!

Thank a lot!

Rich.

I've figured this out if it helps solve the problem

I get the error when I'm using the internal audio of the macbook, but it's not as bad using the apogee one.

The problem is more extreme when the output is set for the apogee one. But the problem is still there with the output set to external speakers.

I'm hoping it's just an update needed for garage band - i wish there was a logix x trial so I could test it out to see if the problem is in logic too!

still no luck. Even while recording with all audio plug ins off and all live inputs off my recording actually records late and I end up needing to move the audio back to sync correctly. The only bad part is some of my recordings require me to listen to the track because there is no external speakers. (DJ turntable) So I Am unable to actually hear the sound correctly. *frustrated* It has become impossible to record certain things.

I spoke to a Guitar Center recording tech about the sync error and the latency you describe. His advice: increase the amount of power that Garageband is drawing from the computer in settings. However I am unable to find this adjustment or settings. I tried audio units enable on and off to no avail. Does anyone know how to adjust the power settings?
