create netinstall from new macbook

I have some new Macbooks that have 10.8.3 out of box then again for 10.8.5 once I update it all to that version.

Normally I use Disk Utility to make a .dmg image that I than use to restore or mirror if needed at a later date.

Now I have read more and see there is a NetInstall option that might be faster for me.

How do I make the required OS X install Source?

I have tried firewire target drive but the NetInstall option is greyed out.

I want to do this for my 10.6, 10.7, 10.8, and when I make the switch 10.9 also.
