Just updated to OSX Mavericks and see that it wont now allow use of previously OK microsoft 2004 Word/ Excel and Powerpoint. But worse is that it wont run Open Office. Have doen the sme update on Mac Book Air and Open office works there fine? Any ideas why and what I can do to get it to work on my Imac?

MS Officd '04 apps can't run on any Mac running Lion or later. However, for Open Office, it was discontinued over two years ago.

But there are very similar successor products including Apache Open Office and LibreOffice.

I have been to download Apache Open Office this morning and it still wont allow it to open, though as I say, it does open on my macbook air, no problem at all, and that is running on Mavericks now.
Why wont open office wont run after OSX mavericks install?
