How to install networked Epson Expression 10000XL?

Hello,

I have an Epson Expression 10000XL scanner with an ethernet card connected to my network. The scanner workes fine, but after makeing a clean install of OS X Mavericks I'm lost. The old drivers won't work, and the new ones are supposed to come automatically when connecting the scanner.

Since this is a scanner that I connect to over my Ethernet I don't understand how to trigger Mavericks to fetch the drivers. If I enter the "Printers and scanners" section of settings there seems to be no dialogue where I can enter an adress to the scanner.

Am I missing something here?

That where you can enter the address of your scanner....

Thas is what you wanted right ?

If you have a DHCP server running on a router, you could get the address from its status.

It all depends on your network.

When the OS can "see" the scanner, software update will atempt to find drivers if they are not allready

in the system.

In the IP Pane I can see nothing that has anything to do with scanners. It's all about printers.

If I enter the IP-adress to the scanner I get a status line under the adress field that says that the adress is valid and complete. Fine, but after that? The only protocols to choose from are IPP, LPD and HP Jet direct. What should I use? To me this seems like Printer protocols only...?

At the bottom to the right of Use it says PostScript printer (or something like that, I'm on a swedish distro). If I try to find my scanner by choosing it, I can't find it.

I must say the dialouge is far from self explanatory when trying to add somthing that is not a printer.

I still don't get it.

Hmmm

I don't own a networked scanner myself, so i don't know how it would look in Scanners & Printers, but

did you try starting software update with the scanner connected and powered on ?

Are there any entries in the Printers & Scanners window ?

If you click the + button, do anything show up in the list in the Default pane ?

(The default pane should list peripherals that the OS can "see" )
