Cannot access windows shares with NTFS junction points

I have the same problem too. Previously in ML, I could access those junction points but now it just shows a zero-byte empty folder here in Mavericks. Looks like a feature degradation to me.

Any suggestions?

I'm a +1. Its very annoying.

Junctions simply don't work any more. (Winodws symlinks are worse, instead of a folder, I get a document with a shortcut arrow). I have tried connecting using SMB and CIFS, but no luck.

Just going to spend my sunday afternoon hunting to see if anyone has found a solution. One day I'm going to learn to not get excited and click "Upgrade Now" straight away.....

ps. My shares are being hosted off Windows 7.

Mine started working a while ago. Don't know if it was an update to osx or windows, but it is happy.

The first time I expanded a junction after the first, it took a while to load, but it got there. Since then, it has been happy.

So, the other day, after waking my mbp up after a good nap, I clicked on the server name of the lhs of the finder window. Lo and behold, none of my junction points worked.

I ejected the drive and reconnected using the cifs link, and it worked.

Maybe smb2 wasn't fixed and it was cifs that was never broken...

I have the same issue here.

My new Macbook Retina Pro with Mavericks just shows empty directories when I'm trying to access NTFS junctions.

My "root" SMB share is protected and avaible from a WHS 2011. The junction points are visible, but when I klick on them they are empty. With Windows and Linux I can access the NTFS Junctions and view/edit the content of the junctions. I don't think its a Finder problem, with ForkLift and the Terminal I don't see any files too.

Maybe some Updates or suggestions how to repair this?

I've got the same problem. Very frustrating, my whole network setup is now useless.

This is related to Apple's new SMB2 implementation in Mavericks.

Instead of connecting to your Windows share via SMB, connect via CFIS. Note that I had to disconnect from Windows share, restart, and then reconnect with CFIS to get the NTFS junction points to work.

You can also try forcing Mavericks to use the older SMB variant, Common Internet File System (CIFS). To do this, simply edit your server connection URL so that it uses CIFS. Use the Finder to choose the "Go" menu and select "Connect to Server..." (or just use command-K) and type "cifs://YourServerName" and hit Return; the server should mount. If it doesn't, try entering the share's designation as well, e.g. "cifs://YourServerName/YourDriveName."

[BE SURE TO RESTART AFTER DISCONNECTING FROM SMB SHARES AND BEFORE THE CFIS CONNECT TO MAKE SURE ALL ACCESS THREADS CLOSE!]
