Please provide more info. Where is your iTunes Library located? At the default location (your homefolder/Music/iTunes) or external drive? First step would be Repairing Permissions using Disk Utility, then restart your Mac (and reset PRAM by holding down option-command-P-R keys and let it chime 3 times) and then try iTunes again. Likely you somehow lost write permissions to either library or the location. If your iTunes folder is located on an external drive, check your write permissions to this drive using the "Get Info" under Menu/File. Do you have a backup of your iTunes Library files? If not, I highly recommend backing both ITunes Library.itl and iTunes Library.xml files prior to upgrading iTunes by simply copying, adding date, and then saving both copies to a separate folder named to your liking. This way you have a working copy in case something goes wrong.

Thanks for all the information.

I restarted the computer and iTunes and now it working fine. Still iTunes is sluggish, I has been like that since I upgraded to Mavericks.

My iTunes library is where it has always been (HD > Users > Username > Music > iTunes).

I don't know why these happened. Any relation to the new OSX?

Thanks again.

Do you have iTunes Match, iTunes in the Cloud or any other sync settings enabled? How about Genius? My library is very large but I don't do the cloud nor Genius nor syncing, and iTunes is pretty fast and responsive -- though there is a weird bug when editing some random music info at times and the beach ball spins for a couple minutes. Check the Activity Monitor for any iTunes related activity likely explaining the sluggishness.

Oct 28, 2013 2:08 AM in response to Timbuktu

No, i don't have iTunes Match or iCloud activated for my Music Library (iTunes), I do have "Genius" syncing.

I usually runs slower when trying to add new music or when opening an album info.

Yesterday I ran diagnostics with EtreCheck, which someone recommended on another discussion. These are the results:

Try these steps for a start

I agree with Pete, delete EVERYTHING related to CleanMyMac NOW by using AppCleaner or any other program that completely removes all installed files which are all over the place. Read some of its reviews here. I have been using the free utility Onyx for years, download from here once it's updated for 10.9, to handle all my maintenance needs. Read the reviews and see for yourself.

I also saw an old Flashplugin10.6 and a couple "browser plugins" which I would examine to their need of existence.

And....consider dumping Google Chrome and everything GoogEvil. Chrome is a CPU-Memory-battery hog. If you can't live without it just use it as needed.

Regarding slowness in iTunes, Genius definitely causes sluggishness when it sends updates to Apple.

Oct 29, 2013 9:31 AM in response to Timbuktu

Thanks Timbuktu.

I will consider downloading Onyx once updated to 10.9-

My computer is running pretty smooth, except - again - for iTunes. I have a pretty large iTunes Library (300 GB), therefore it runs slow when opening and when adding new music. Sometimes also when syncing with iPad.

I think it's related to iTunes and not to my computer. Reviewed the "Activity Monitor" and this was the only process taking over 100% of CPU.

Guess I have to wait for updates. My RAM memory es fairly good 8GB with a fast processor 2.9 GHz intel core i7

The sluggishness in unexplainable then.

I will turn of Genuis, but I don't think that's the problem.

Thanks again.
